As we expand our clinical offerings and enhance our academic objectives, we are looking for individuals who are enthusiastic about utilizing their dual training to provide care for patients spanning the pediatric to adult age range.The Med-Peds Consult Service delivers internal medicine expertise for adult patients admitted to a pediatric facility, collaborating closely with both medical and surgical specialists. This service also provides resources to facilitate the transition of suitable patients to adult care providers. Beyond direct patient care, this position offers chances to engage in the development of institution-wide adult transition programs and to take on leadership roles within the Med-Peds residency program. This opportunity is perfect for Med-Peds physicians dedicated to merging their dual training into innovative, age-appropriate inpatient care models.Located at our main campus, the Med-Peds Consult Service operates within the Division of Hospital Medicine, which comprises over 70 faculty members across three locations, fostering a diverse range of clinical, educational, quality improvement, and research interests. We are currently focused on filling a hospitalist position at our main campus, and we encourage candidates interested in either full-time or part-time roles to apply.Our facility is a standalone children's hospital featuring a level 1 trauma center and comprehensive subspecialty services. We host a well-established, ACGME-accredited two-year pediatric hospitalist fellowship program with six fellows and play a crucial role in medical education for both our pediatric residency program and the University of Arizona Med-Peds residency program. Our faculty members hold academic positions at the University of Arizona, Creighton University, and the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.We welcome driven and collaborative Med-Peds providers to join the Division of Hospital Medicine and contribute to the evolution of Med-Peds care and education in a vibrant academic setting. All applicants must be board eligible or certified in general pediatrics and internal medicine.Phoenix is the fifth largest city in the United States, boasting over 300 days of sunshine annually!The staff physician will deliver patient care services and uphold our organization's mission of providing hope, healing, and exceptional healthcare for children and their families.Key ResponsibilitiesPatient Care Services1) Deliver patient care services for which the physician is clinically privileged, including but not limited to: a) Provide direct patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings b) Offer subspecialty consultations and follow-up care c) Conduct diagnostic and therapeutic services/procedures d) Provide urgent/emergent care as necessary2) Aim to achieve optimal patient and family-centered care3) Support the hospital's patient satisfaction objectives as well as specific division targets4) Adhere to divisional standards for patient safety and quality of care5) Practice contemporary evidence-based medicine or the latest experience-based approachesDivisional Responsibilities1) Set and demonstrate efforts to meet annual goals and objectives for physicians (e.g., individual, division, hospital)2) Contribute to the medical education initiatives of the division, including but not limited to: a) Direct supervision of trainees and allied health professionals in delivering inpatient and outpatient services when applicable b) Conduct teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences for trainees c) Participate in the education and supervision of trainees and allied health professionals assigned to the division d) Engage in postgraduate continuing education activities of the division3) Support the division's research initiatives, including those led by other members4) Foster programmatic growth within the division5) Assist with satellite efforts of the division when appropriateProfessionalism1) Treat colleagues, employees, and patients with courtesy, dignity, and respect2) Promote a safe, collaborative, and professional healthcare environment3) Uphold the organization's mission, vision, and values, including family-centered care, excellence in clinical practice, leadership, collaboration, and accountabilityAdditional Activities1) Support the Division Chief in their role as a liaison to the professional community and the public as requested2) Conduct teaching rounds or conferences outside the organization, particularly if these activities support divisional clinical and educational initiatives3) Represent the organization in the medical and business communities and to the public in a professional manner4) The following physical and mental skills are essential for the physician to successfully perform the aforementioned duties: a) Ability to communicate via telephone, computer, or other communication devices b) Ability to fulfill after-hours or night call responsibilities as needed c) Ability to work regular scheduled hoursPerform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
