Director of Security

We are seeking an experienced and driven Director of Security to oversee and lead security operations within a K-12 school environment across Eastern Long Island. This role is ideal for a security professional with a strong background in school safety, law enforcement, emergency management, and personnel leadership.The Director of Security will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors while strengthening emergency preparedness and daily operational security.Essential Job DutiesLead daily security operations across multiple K-12 school buildingsSupervise, schedule, train, and support security personnelEvaluate and improve current safety and security proceduresConduct building and campus security assessments Develop detailed security recommendations and site improvement plansSupport emergency preparedness planning including:Coordinate tabletop exercises and ongoing safety training for staff and facultyAssist with security planning for athletic events, graduations, proms, and other large-scale eventsAnalyze incident trends and security data to improve staffing and response strategiesPartner closely with school leadership, law enforcement, emergency responders, and public safety agenciesPosition RequirementsMinimum of 5 years of experience in K-12 school security, law enforcement, public safety, emergency management, or related security leadership.Prior experience running or supporting a K-12 school security programPolice, law enforcement, school safety, public safety, or emergency management experienceExperience supervising, scheduling, training, and managing security staffKnowledge of school emergency procedures, lockdowns, shelter-in-place, reunification, threat assessment, and incident responseAbility to conduct facility/security assessments and make written recommendationsFamiliarity with NYS school safety requirements, SAVE-related planning, and Incident Command/NIMS training (NIMS ICS-300 Certification)Availability for school-day coverage, plus occasional nights, weekends, summer planning, and major school eventsCompensation Range: $100,000- $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience and location.
