Find out how a career at Michels Power, Inc. can change yours.Position OverviewAs a Transmission Line Estimator - Overhead, you will develop accurate, competitive estimates for high-voltage overhead transmission line construction projects, including new builds, rebuilds, and system upgrades.You will evaluate bid documents, construction drawings, and specifications to ensure full scope capture across key transmission components, including:Structure installation (steel, lattice, monopole, wood pole)Conductor and OPGW stringingFoundations (drilled pier, direct embed, anchor systems)Access roads and right-of-way (ROW) preparationMaterial logistics and equipment planningThis role partners closely with Project Managers, engineers, field leadership, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure bids are complete, accurate, and aligned with execution strategy. What It Takes5+ years of estimating, project management, or field experience in transmission, utility, or electrical construction-or equivalent experienceStrong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneouslyExperience or exposure to overhead transmission line construction methodsAbility to review and interpret construction drawings, plan & profile sheets, and specificationsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skillsProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced ExcelValid driver's license with an acceptable driving recordWillingness to travel occasionally for site visits, pre-bid meetings, and bid reviews Preferred QualificationsExperience estimating high-voltage transmission projects (69kV-500kV+)Familiarity with structure types, conductor systems, and foundation designsUnderstanding of right-of-way (ROW), access challenges, and environmental considerationsExperience with estimating software (e.g., HCSS, InEight, or similar)Background working with utilities, co-ops, or EPC contractorsJoin a company that powers progress.
