Head Engineer
We are looking for a Chief Engineer to play a vital role in the maritime industry, overseeing the safe operation of propulsion and auxiliary machinery on Cutter Suction Dredges. This 100% travel position involves a 3 weeks on/3 weeks off rotation and requires a skilled professional to ensure regulatory compliance and lead maintenance efforts. The Chief Engineer will promote safety, operational reliability, and effective teamwork while collaborating closely with shoreside management.Job Details:Travel Requirement: 100% travel with a 3 weeks on/3 weeks off rotation schedule. Can live anywhere in the US, preferably along the Gulf or East Coast.Flexibility: Must be willing to travel to various project sites as needed; no choice of project location.Benefits:Competitive salary and bonus program.401(k) with 100% company match up to 6% and immediate vesting.Annual profit-sharing contributions.Comprehensive insurance plans (Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Disability).Lodging, transportation, and daily meal allowance provided by the client.Responsibilities:Oversee propulsion plant and auxiliary machinery for assigned Cutter Suction Dredge.Ensure compliance with ABS and USCG regulations, and maintain vessel’s condition monitoring equipment.Lead daily pre-shift meetings, safety walkthroughs, and emergency drills.Supervise engine room crew and contracted repair services.Maintain engine room logs, oil record books, and spare parts inventory.Partner with Maintenance Management for shipyard planning and maintenance periods.Participate in weekly Vessel Reliability Assured Maintenance (RAM) meetings.Requirements:Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering or equivalent experience.Licenses & Certifications: Valid Driver's License & TWIC Card (required). Preferred: USCG Chief Engineer License, Tankerman PIC Certificate, training in EMD & Caterpillar engines, hydraulic systems, and basic electrical systems.Technical Skills:Proficiency in Diesel Engine and Propulsion System operation and troubleshooting.Knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, fuel, and lube oil systems.Basic electrical machinery and automation troubleshooting.Ability to read and interpret technical documents and system diagrams.Additional Skills:Strong communication and leadership skills.Positive attitude, self-motivated, and able to maintain high team morale.Dredging experience is preferred.
