Our team is committed to safety, collaboration, and building lasting partnerships.As a Substation Apprentice, you will begin building your career in substation construction by supporting field crews and learning foundational installation practices. Working under the direction of experienced Foremen and Supervisors, you will develop core technical skills, gain exposure to construction drawings, and build knowledge of substation materials and methods. This role is designed for individuals who are eager to learn, grow, and contribute to safe and efficient project execution.What You'll Do Here:Assist with daily substation construction activities under the direction of experienced crew membersBegin interpreting Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings and support redlining as directedSupport installation activities across various substation scopesLearn proper use of tools, materials, and consumables in a construction environmentMaintain a clean, organized, and safe work areaFollow all safety procedures and actively contribute to Aecon's safety cultureProactively ask questions and seek guidance to build technical knowledge and skillsWhat You Bring to the Team:Minimum of 1 year of substation field experience and a strong interest in developing a long-term career in substation construction.Developing exposure to:Conduit installation and routingGround grid installation and basic grounding practicesPrecast trench installation and layoutCable tray installationStructural steel installation supportApparatus installation assistanceBus work installation supportLow-voltage cable installationBuilding a foundational understanding of substation materials, consumables, and tools, and are eager to expand your knowledge in the field.Demonstrate a strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and the initiative to ask questions and improve your skills.Positive attitude, strong communication skills, and a safety-first mindset.Reliable, motivated, and able to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment while contributing to team success.Aecon fosters diversity, inclusion and belonging within and across our organization.
