Job mission Design customized vacuum driven end of arm tooling detailed to fit customer specified systems. Joulin tools are designed to be durable, efficient, and handle a diverse array of products. As a manufacturing facility, a Design Engineer at Joulin should also work to understand the downstream processes required to bring a design to completion. This means members of the Design Team must learn both the capabilities and limitations of the equipment and their operators. Key responsibilities Work closely with Project Engineers to develop the tool required for product handling system Using Solidworks, model custom EOAT,s and auxiliary equipment for end of line product handling Design systems including pneumatic, electrical, and/or mechanical controls systems Design for various manufacturing approaches including but not limited to 3D Printing, Sheet metal, Weldments, and multi axis machining. Maintain an understanding of Joulin standard parts and design procedures. Apply knowledge and principles of engineering to designs for effective and efficient products Continuously improve knowledge in mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic components Generate technical documents for manufacturing and operation (Drawings, Schematics, BOM, etc.) Interface with company ERP and PDM/PLM system daily In this role you are required to act accordingly to the Piab Code of Conduct and know and follow the Piab values, mission, and routines. Key interfaces Design Engineer reports to Blayden Tucker and is part of the Design Team. Design Engineers works closely with the other members of the Design Team and other departments central to the company as well as representatives of Piab. Skills and abilities Microsoft Office Experience Experience with PDM/PLM System Solidworks (Or similar CAD platform) Multitasking Problem Solving Team collaboration Preferred competencies Analysis and Judgment – Quickly understand and analyzes complex issues and problems; comes up with sound and rational judgments Constructive Teamwork – Co-operates well with others; shares knowledge, experience, and information to support and strengthen others on the team Self-Development – Is aware of own strengths and limitations and pursues learning and career development opportunities. Innovation – Produces fresh and imaginative ideas and solutions; promotes growth and development for Piab Experience and educational background Bachelors (preferred) in Mechanical, Electrical, or similar concentration of Engineering 3D Modelling Experience with various pneumatic components/systems Practice in creating manufacturing/engineering documentation (part drawings, BOMs, schematics) Work Environment and Physical Demands The Joulin Design Engineer position is in an office environment, however interaction with shop personnel may be required and is encourage as a manufacturing facility. Proper interaction helps build an understanding of the manufacturing process and the tools designed/sold. The first several weeks of training involves working in the manufacturing area to understand equipment, processes, and tool design features Travel Travel is minimal but may be required on occasions. Work Remotely Remote work may be allowed or required at times, not full time.
