Interior Design Consultant

Position OverviewWe are looking for a Specification Representative to be responsible for promoting and driving demand for decorative products across both commercial and residential markets. This role focuses on building relationships with the architecture and design community to secure product specifications and ultimately increase revenue.This is a field-based role requiring four days per week in the territory and one day in the office. Candidates must reside within or near the assigned territories below:South Bay / Silicon Valley: Palo Alto, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, San Jose, Los Gatos, Saratoga, Cupertino, Menlo Park, Atherton, Morgan Hill, and Gilroy.East Bay: Fairfield, Vallejo, Richmond, Emeryville, Concord, Union City, Brentwood, Oakland, Berkeley, Hayward, Fremont, Walnut Creek, Pleasanton, and Livermore.Santa Cruz Region: Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, Capitola, and Watsonville.Central Valley (North): Fresno, Clovis, Madera, and Visalia.Central Valley (South): Bakersfield and surrounding Kern County markets.Salary range for this position is $80,000-85,000 annuallyBenefits include benefits, company car, gas card, and annual performance-based bonus!What will you do in this role?Develop and maintain long-term relationships with architects, designers, design-build firms, general contractors, and buildersSecure product specifications with new and existing architecture and design firms for DesignOneSource (DOS) through education and presentationsRespond to sample requests and provide guidance on product selection, serving as a trusted resource through product and industry expertisePlan and deliver AIA/IDCEC CEU course presentationsConduct in-person product education presentations at design firmsAlign efforts & work in conjunction with industry / vendor reps.Participation and networking at industry-related functions including tradeshowsManage collateral inventory including stocking and distribution of decorative product samplesCollaborate with the sales team on project follow-ups, activity tracking, and strategy discussionsReview profitability reports (Batch) to connect sales orders to tracked projects and accurately record data in the CRM systemManage and track both short and long-term sales cycles, from design phase through material purchase, coordinating with sales teamsDaily CRM input of activitiesWhat are we looking for?Degree, diploma or certificate in interior design from a recognized post-secondary institution is preferred.Interaction with other brands' sales team and industry/vendor specification repsKeep abreast of specification market intelligence including product/trend development and new product introductions design experience would be an asset.Specification experience would be an asset.General understanding of the different channels to market.A recognition and ability to manage/track potentially long sales cycles.An established network of contacts, specifically with architects, designers, builders, retail chains, would be an asset.Excellent communication, time management, organizational, planning, and presentation skills (small and larger groups).Able to create and modify Power Point presentations.CRM knowledge a plus.Ability and willingness to travel (including overnight) as needed.Reporting RelationshipsReports to the Specification ManagerAbout DesignOneSourceDesignOneSource is the Specification Division of ADENTRA, representing products from Rugby Architectural Building Products, Hardwoods Specialty Products, and Paxton Lumber.
