Job Description Job Title: Transmission Line Engineer IIICompany: TOR EngineeringLocation: Phoenix, AZPosition Type: Full-Time (In-Office)Job SummaryTOR Engineering is seeking a skilled and motivated Transmission Line Engineer III to support the design and project management of transmission and distribution (T&D) line projects for utility and commercial clients. Projects range from 4.2 kV to 500 kV and include structural analysis, conductor selection, and modeling using PLS-CADD.This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and capable of leading projects while collaborating with internal teams. As part of a smaller, agile organization, you'll have the opportunity to build direct relationships with clients and play a key role in project success.Note: This is a full-time, in-office position based in Phoenix, AZ. Field visits will be required, and company vehicles will be provided.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop engineering deliverables including:Plan & ProfilesPrimary & Conduit DiagramsTransmission Section MapsStructure & Framing DetailsPermitting ExhibitsPLS-CADD models for overhead transmission linesCoordinate with sub-consultants across civil, structural, and related disciplinesPrepare detailed Bills of MaterialEstablish loading and clearance criteriaDevelop and review technical specifications for equipment and constructionReview and approve contractor submittals and RFIsPerform QA/QC on engineering designsConduct site visits to verify field conditions and compare with design documentsSupport proposal development, project scoping, scheduling, and budgetingEnsure designs meet National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and client standardsPerform system analyses (lightning performance, circuit ratings, corona, losses, etc.)Lead client communications, design reviews, and project updatesForecast and refine project cost estimates and cash flowsSupport business development and client relationship growthMentor and guide junior engineering, design, and drafting staffRequirementsBachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Structural, or Mechanical) from an accredited universityMinimum 4 years of experience in transmission and distribution (T&D) designEngineering in Training (E.I.T.) certification requiredProficiency in PLS-CADD (required)Working knowledge of CAD softwareStrong understanding of engineering design principles and project workflowsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to lead projects and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teamsFlexible and adaptable to changing project requirements and client needsStrong attention to detail and customer service mindsetPreferred Skills & AttributesSelf-motivated with strong problem-solving abilitiesAbility to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesExperience mentoring or leading junior staffClient-facing experience and relationship management skillsBenefitsCompetitive Medical, Dental, and Vision InsuranceComplimentary Life InsurancePaid Time Off (PTO) starting from date of hire401(k) with company match and profit-sharingPerformance-based pay and advancement opportunitiesWhy Join TOR Engineering?TOR Engineering offers a collaborative and flexible work environment where your contributions directly impact project success.
