Assistant Nurse Manager - Critical Care

Job Description Position Summary:The Assistant Nurse Manager supports the Nurse Manager in overseeing daily operations of a critical care nursing unit. This role ensures high-quality, compliant patient care while maintaining a safe, efficient, and patient-centered environment.The position serves as a clinical leader, role model, and resource for nursing staff, with responsibility for staffing, budgeting, performance improvement, and regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities:Oversee daily unit operations and ensure delivery of quality patient careSupport staffing management, scheduling, and FTE budget monitoringAssist with hiring, performance evaluations, counseling, and staff developmentEnsure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and accreditation requirementsPromote patient safety, quality improvement, and evidence-based practiceParticipate in performance improvement initiatives and shared governance activitiesSupport staff education, competency validation, and ongoing training requirementsCollaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomesProvide leadership in resolving operational and clinical issuesMaintain readiness to provide direct patient care when neededConduct and participate in staff meetings and leadership committeesQualifications:Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license requiredBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required or in progress with completion planBasic Life Support (BLS) certification required (AHA)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or required depending on unitMinimum 2 years of acute care clinical experiencePrior leadership or supervisory experience preferredStrong clinical skills with demonstrated professionalism in patient careExcellent communication, leadership, and organizational abilitiesCertification in nursing leadership or specialty area preferred or to be obtained within 3 yearsAdditional RequirementsAbility to function as a staff RN when neededCommitment to patient safety, ethical nursing practice, and quality standardsParticipation in ongoing education, training, and organizational initiativesAbility to lead teams in a fast-paced critical care environmentCompany DescriptionJoin our team as a nursing leader who is passionate about making a difference!Company DescriptionJoin our team as a nursing leader who is passionate about making a difference!
