Director of Finance
Overview:
Lord of Life Lutheran Church and Adult & Child Services, Inc. is a vibrant organization seeking a Director of Finance to join our Leadership team. The Director of Finance is responsible for the accounting and record keeping of the Church and the Adult Day Health Center (ADHC) and the Child Development Center (CDC). The Director of Finance is a key member of a Leadership team who works closely with the Pastor/President, Treasurers, Auditors, and Directors of the Centers to execute the business relationships of the Church and the Centers.
Basic Purpose and Responsibility:
The Director of Finance is responsible for the financial accounting and reporting of the Church and Services. This position requires a thorough understanding of bookkeeping and accrual basis accounting for nonprofit/exempt organizations. Responsibilities include:
· Record activity into the general ledger.
· Process accounts payables.
· Check preparation.
· Bill for the Adult Day program participants
· Accounts Receivable follow-up
· Reconcile donations from donor software.
· Prepare bank deposits and reconcile cash receipts.
· Prepare and post monthly journal entries.
· Account analysis
· Grant accounting, reporting, and reimbursement requests
· Prepare monthly financial statements for the Finance Committee and Boards of Directors
· Attend monthly Finance Committee meetings.
· Assist with annual financial statement audits and IRS Form 990 preparation.
· Assist with preparation of annual budgets.
· Other tasks, as needed.
· Payroll Administration
o Responsible for payroll preparation and process
o Respond to employee’s payroll and benefits-based questions as requested.
o Update employee information in system.
o Setup and train new employees on the timesheet system
o Oversight of Evolution payroll information and reporting to ensure compliance with labor laws
· HR and Benefits Administration
o Orient new employees by providing orientation information packets; reviewing company policies; gathering withholding and other payroll information; explaining and obtaining signatures for benefit programs.
o Process employee enrollments and terminations as required.
o Prepare and maintain related benefits records and reports.
o Complete and maintain I-9 forms.
o Perform file audits to ensure that all required employee documentation is collected and maintained.
o Administer Paid Time Off, Short Term Disability and leave of absence programs.
· Human Resources
o Maintain financial files for all Lord of Life Employees
o Address all concerns from employees that cannot be handled by the Pastor/President or Director.
o Address questions regarding paychecks, direct deposit, withholding, PTO.
o Update all changes as needed.

Preferred Experience and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in accounting, preferably in public accounting.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with bookkeeping and generally accepted accounting principles.
Church or not-for-profit financial management experience preferred.
Must have knowledge of non-profit tax-exempt accounting procedures.
High proficiency with QuickBooks Pro, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, and Microsoft Word.
Ability to learn financial module of church database system.
Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills, with outstanding attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and work closely with colleagues, vendors, and contractors.
Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a team environment in ways that reflect Lord of Life’s stated core character and values.

Ability to collaborate with staff, train volunteers, work with a variety of people, be compassionate and caring.
Can set appropriate boundaries.

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
Expected hours: 32 – 35 per week
