Position OverviewAn exciting leadership role focused on overseeing Primary Care and Urgent Care Advanced Practice Provider (APP) operations in the Greater Austin area.This position features a 0.6 FTE clinical and 0.4 FTE administrative division, combining patient care with leadership duties.Utilizes an Enhanced Care Team (ECT) model, supported by dedicated staff including Medical Assistants (MA), Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN), and Patient Service Specialists (PSS).Manages a reasonable patient load of approximately 14 patients per day, allowing for a focus on delivering high-quality care and fulfilling administrative tasks.Opportunity to lead APP workflows, drive quality initiatives, and implement operational enhancements.Work in a collaborative setting with established physician leadership and mentorship from the APP Administrator.Participate in a shared in-basket model to facilitate team-based care delivery.Clinical Duties:Conduct new patient consultations, follow-up visits, and acute care access.Perform minor procedures such as incision and drainage (I&D), pap smears, simple suturing, and injections.Engage in in-basket management and coordinate patient care.Administrative Duties:Assist in the management of APP operations, optimize workflows, and oversee team activities.Participate in quality assurance initiatives, including monthly quality assessments with the supervising physician.Collaborate with leadership on program development and process enhancements.Ideal Candidate Profile:Preferred experience of 3+ years in a relevant field.A strong passion for leadership, operational management, and the development of APPs.Ability to effectively balance clinical responsibilities with administrative tasks.Additional Information:This role is in an outpatient-only environment (EPIC training required for outpatient settings).No on-call duties are expected; the schedule will be determined based on clinic requirements.Opportunities for moonlighting are available.Structured onboarding and mentorship will be provided by the current APP Administrator.About Our OrganizationWe are dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of individuals, families, and communities. This position involves collaboration with Human Resources, the Office of Medical Staff Appointments, division and department leaders, as well as clinic or hospital administration. The administrator plays a key role in developing and implementing policies for APPs in their area. Responsibilities include administrative organization, leadership, mentoring, and representation on committees. The APP in this role will have designated administrative time, not exceeding 60%, as determined by regional/service line administration and the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).Essential Functions:Provide patient services under the supervision of a designated physician.Conduct patient interviews and examinations to identify symptoms and maintain patient records.Perform thorough examinations and medical screenings, accurately documenting findings.Assist in developing diagnostic, therapeutic, and follow-up plans as appropriate.Interpret laboratory results and order necessary tests, following established protocols.Communicate effectively with patients, supervising physicians, and caregivers, ensuring all relevant information is shared.Provide recommendations to the regional CMO and clinic leadership regarding APP-related matters.Encourage the effective use of APPs across the region.Support the recruitment, orientation, and onboarding of APPs in the region.Collaborate with internal departments on APP-related issues.Stay informed about regulations and standards from The Joint Commission and other governing bodies regarding APP practice.Oversee APP student clinical rotations throughout the region.Key Success Factors:Understanding of federal and Texas state laws governing APPs.Familiarity with Joint Commission standards related to APP practice in healthcare settings.Excellent interpersonal skills for effective interaction with medical staff and personnel.Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations.Ability to gather information from various sources, apply professional principles, and summarize data for problem-solving.Capability to guide, mentor, and collaborate in a team-oriented environment.Proficiency in computer systems, Electronic Health Records, databases, and Microsoft Office applications.Awareness of national and state APP issues, with a preference for involvement in professional organizations.Familiarity with current institutional policies, bylaws, and credentialing requirements is preferred.Demonstrated ability for self-direction and initiative is essential.A minimum of five years of experience as an APP (PA or APRN), including three years in a leadership role within healthcare.Belonging Statement:We believe in creating an environment where everyone feels welcomed, valued, and supported.Qualifications:Education: A Master's degree or a Bachelor's degree with an additional two years of relevant experience beyond the minimum qualifications.Experience: A total of five years of professional experience.Certification/License/Registration:Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire or transfer.Licensure as an Advanced Practice Professional (CRNA, NP, or PA) by the State of Texas.
