Our teams combine deep technical expertise with straight talk, collaboration, and a long term view, creating an environment where people make progress, projects succeed, and communities benefit.Position OverviewThe MEP Cost Manager is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems across commercial and industrial construction projects. The role supports preconstruction and bidding by producing detailed takeoffs, vendor and subcontractor quotations, and cost analyses to guide design decisions, budgets and procurement strategies.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for MEP systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical) from drawings, specifications and BIM models.Develop subcontractor and vendor scope packages, solicit and evaluate quotes, and reconcile proposals against in-house estimates.Collaborate with project managers, engineers and design teams to review design intent, value-engineer alternatives and identify cost-saving opportunities.Maintain and update cost databases, assemblies and unit-price libraries to reflect current market conditions and historical data.Produce bid summaries, estimate reports, cost breakdowns and risk assessments for internal review and client presentations.Support lifecycle cost analysis, change order pricing and claims evaluation during construction.Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits and client meetings as required to verify site conditions and scope.Utilize estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Trimble/WinEst, HxGN, Accubid, Bluebeam, Revit) to increase accuracy and efficiency.Ensure estimates comply with applicable codes, standards, contractual requirements and company estimating procedures.Provide mentorship and review for junior estimators and coordinate with procurement to support equipment ordering and lead-time planning.QualificationsBachelors degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience.3+ years of hands-on estimating experience focused on MEP systems in commercial, institutional or industrial construction.Proven proficiency with estimating and takeoff tools (e.g., Bluebeam, Trimble/WinEst, Accubid, HxGN) and familiarity with Revit/BIM workflows.Strong understanding of MEP systems, materials, installation methods, labor productivity rates and current market pricing.Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and schedules with strong attention to detail.Excellent analytical, math and problem-solving skills with the ability to prepare clear cost reports and bid presentations.Effective communication and negotiation skills for working with subcontractors, vendors and internal stakeholders.Self-motivated, organized and able to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Willingness to travel to project sites and attend meetings; valid drivers license preferred.Familiarity with construction estimating best practices and relevant codes and standards.BenefitsEmployer-paid constinuing education and tuition reibersmentPaid public holidaysSick time401(K)Long-term disabilityShort-term disabilityLife insurance100% employer-paid healthcare (medical, dental, vision) Email Your Resume In Word ToNicole.Frenak@CyberCoders.comLooking forward to receiving your resume through our website and going over the position with you.
