Job Description JS Held’s Forensic engineering practice is seeking a Professional Engineer for its Vehicle Accident Reconstruction office. The ideal candidate has a strong background in roadway construction and/or design. Drainage installation and/or modeling (hydrology and hydraulics) expertise is emphasized. Other areas of experience and knowledge that would be beneficial include roadway maintenance, asphalt paving, traffic signalization, and Maintenance of Traffic. Candidates should have an aptitude for evaluating roadway plans, contractual requirements, specifications, and applicable standards as well as physical roadway defects such as pavement failure, ponding water, shoulder edge drop‑offs, intersection site distances, and temporary traffic control deficiencies.
Candidates should feel comfortable working in a fast‑paced and collaborative consulting environment that requires a high degree of self‑motivation, professionalism, organization, responsiveness, and resilience to stress.
Job Responsibilities Provide forensic engineering analysis of cases involving roadway defects or issues that may be a contributory cause to a crash or incident.
Assist clients and team members with cases involving roadway issues related to vehicle crashes or bicycle/pedestrian incidents.
Analyze roadway plans, daily work reports, specifications, and other documents that pertain to vehicle accidents or other events associated with litigation, such as drowning or falls.
Conduct field investigations including surveys and photographs.
Provide technical findings, analysis, and conclusions, either verbally or in writing, in a timely fashion and in laymen’s terms.
Travel for field work.
Maintain communication with clients and project teams on status and scope of assigned projects.
Maintain technical and professional knowledge related to the practice area through continuing education, workshops, seminars, relevant publications, and professional organizations.
Continuously meet or exceed assigned performance metrics and goals.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
Licensed Professional Engineer.
2 to 5 years of experience in traffic signalization, roadway construction and/or design.
Advanced training in Maintenance of Traffic (Temporary Traffic Control).
Working knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
Working knowledge of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) Guide on Geometric Design.
Intimate knowledge of a Department of Transportation (including policies, practices, and applicable regulations).
Strong written and verbal communication skills; public speaking experience is desirable.
Strong organizational skills and a results‑driven attitude.
Mathematical and technological aptitude with the ability to adapt to new environments.
Proficiency with software and technical systems.
Willingness and ability to obtain additional licensure and certification as needed.
Willingness to develop into a testifying Expert.
Willingness to train and learn the field of crash reconstruction.
Willingness and desire to exceed minimum performance and goal requirements.
Physical and Mental Job Qualifications Ability to work remotely or while traveling to different job sites (reliable cellular service, access to high‑speed data, etc.).
Must be able to travel to different regions ( reliable transportation required ).

Salary range: $100,000 – $150,000. Exact salary will depend on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, training, location, scope of role and management responsibility.
