This role combines technical leadership with team development to drive scalable, secure, and efficient cloud environments while improving the speed, quality, and reliability of software delivery. As a key member of the Development Leadership Team, the Manager fosters a culture of automation and continuous improvement, enabling high-performing systems that support mission-critical applications.Key Responsibilities :Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing DevOps team focused on impact, ownership, and continuous improvementDevelop and execute a strategy to upskill and transform traditional operations staff into modern DevOps practitionersFoster a culture of automation, accountability, and engineering excellencePartner closely with Engineering and Product leadership to align platform capabilities with delivery goalsServe as a key contributor to the Development Leadership Team, shaping engineering direction, standards, and practicesManage team performance through regular 1:1s, coaching, feedback, and career development planningCommunicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive alignment and outcomesDevOps Strategy & ExecutionDefine and execute a clear DevOps strategy aligned to business priorities and product goalsChampion best practices across CI/CD, observability, reliability, and securityEstablish and track KPIs for delivery performance, reliability, and operational efficiencyDrive improvements aligned to engineering performance metrics (e.g., deployment frequency, lead time, change failure rate, uptime)Continuously improve deployment speed, system stability, and developer experienceLead major DevOps and infrastructure initiatives from design through production readinessCI/CD & Automation (Technical Leadership)Architect, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to enable fast, reliable, and repeatable software deliveryServe as a technical authority on pipeline design, automation, and release engineering practicesStandardize and scale build, test, and deployment processes across engineering teamsDrive an automation-first mindset to eliminate manual processes and reduce operational overheadInfrastructure as Code (IaC) & Cloud ArchitectureLead and mature Infrastructure as Code practices using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation, Terragrunt, and BicepDesign and manage scalable, secure, and resilient cloud infrastructure across Azure and AWSEnsure consistency, repeatability, and governance across environmentsEnsure infrastructure supports high-performing, scalable online experiences, including peak donation and campaign trafficProvide architectural guidance and governance for platform and infrastructure decisionsCloud Cost Management & OptimizationEstablish and enforce cloud cost governance practices across Azure and AWSImplement cost visibility and accountability across engineering teamsMonitor, analyze, and optimize cloud spend to ensure efficient resource utilizationPartner with Finance and Engineering leadership to align infrastructure investments with business valueReliability, Security & OperationsEnsure high availability, performance, and scalability of production systems, supporting uptime targets and minimizing production incidentsEnsure production systems reliably support critical customer-facing experiences, including online donation platformsOwn monitoring, alerting, and incident response practices to ensure rapid detection and effective resolutionEmbed DevSecOps principles into pipelines and infrastructureDrive proactive improvements in system reliability, resilience, and operational readinessReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.Key Requirements :10+ years of experience in engineering, infrastructure, or DevOps roles3+ years of experience leading DevOps or platform teamsDeep expertise in CI/CD systems (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform strongly preferred)Experience with cloud platforms (Azure and/or AWS)Strong background in automation, scripting, and distributed system designExperience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)Proven ability to lead teams, influence engineering culture, and drive organizational changeEducation And Experience:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experienceExperience working in SaaS or product-led environments preferredExperience transforming traditional operations teams into DevOps organizations preferredExperience with observability tools (e.g., New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana) preferredFamiliarity with security and compliance in cloud environments preferredStrong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologiesCompensationWe believe great work deserves great rewards — and that when SofterWare succeeds, our team members should share in that success.This full-time, remote position offers a total compensation range of $170,000–$180,000 USD, depending on your experience and skills.
