The UTHealth Department of Internal Medicine is seeking a skilled and motivated Casual Lead Cardiovascular Sonographer to support and elevate our non-invasive cardiovascular imaging services. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the technical operations of our Non-Invasive Cardiovascular laboratories across all UT Physicians/UTHealth Houston clinic locations, ensuring excellence in quality control and regulatory compliance in alignment with Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) standards. Position Summary:The Lead Cardiovascular Sonographer is responsible for the technical operations of the Non-Invasive Cardiovascular laboratories at all UT Physicians/UTHealth Houston clinic locations. Ensures quality control and regulatory compliance as required by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). Develops and implements cardiovascular protocols and procedures. Responsible for the functional and operational excellence in non-invasive cardiovascular imaging, as well as providing high-level cardiovascular services.Position Key Accountabilities:Performs cardiovascular procedures on adult patients: Prepares patients for tests, explains the process, selects suitable imaging techniques, and ensures the technical quality of the images.Oversees training for new and existing clinical staff, serving as a lead resource for faculty and all sonographers. Responsible for orientation and mentoring of new hires, as well as education for students.Responsible for ongoing renewals of cardiac and vascular applications for the Intersocial Accreditation Commission (IAC). Conducts quarterly improvement meetings as required by the IAC and monitors quality improvement through chart audits. Serves as the Technical Director for the accreditation of Cardiac and Vascular Sonography.Assists in establishing protocols and implements and standardizes them for all clinical sites. Identifies problems seeks solutions, and envisions new and improved processes.Responsible for equipment management, including upgrades and new application implementations. Ensures equipment and systems are current and meet standards. Participates in performance improvement activities set by the cardiology department.Serves as the laboratory liaison to ensure quality control and regulatory compliance. Introduces and demonstrates new techniques to fellow technologists.Leads resource allocation for all clinic sites to ensure sufficient staffing. This includes scheduling sonographers at all clinic locations and managing coverage for both planned and unplanned absences.Identifies examination results that may need an immediate clinical response and informs the interpreting cardiologist (such as Critical Results).Assists in maintaining proper patient flow and ensures the delivery of quality services in the cardiology department.Enters and monitors patient data, health history, and vital signs relevant to the exam being conducted.Maintains safety, environmental, and infections control procedures for the department.Attends continuing education seminars to stay abreast of technological advances. Monitors the continuing education requirements of the sonographer staff.Must be able to respond to emergency situations.Position may require travel to other UT Physicians/UT Health clinic locationsPerforms other duties as assigned.Certification/Skills:Shows outstanding technical and interpersonal skills.
