If you have questions, please reach out to your HR Business Partner for more information.Job Title:Controls Engineer InternPay Grade:AcqSalJob Description:Primary Purpose of RoleThe Controls Engineering Intern will support the design, development, testing, and implementation of automation and control systems used in manufacturing operations. This role assists engineers with programming, development, design, troubleshooting, and process improvement projects. The ideal candidate is a motivated engineering student with a strong interest in automation and industrial control systems.Key ResponsibilitiesRecommend and implement improvements to production processes, methods and controlsSupport testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of automation systems and production equipment.Participate in improvement projects regarding Automated Systems by identifying and resolving problems through the use of PLCs, HMI's, etc.Monitors and continually improve safety, quality, process and productivity within assigned areas.Additional Manufacturing Engineering responsibilities as necessary to support operations.Competencies and BehaviorsKnowledge of control systems including PLCs, robots, visions systems, sensors, and electrical schematic design.Lean manufacturing concepts and methods to continuously improve the manufacturing process.Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, servo and mechanical equipment.Proficiency in Software, CAD or equivalent preferredProficient in reading blueprints.Ability to understand and apply Geometric Tolerances.Strong organizational skillsAttention to detail is a must.A take-charge team player with the ability to foster enthusiasm within the organization.Knowledge of basic manufacturing techniques is helpful.Experience and/or knowledge working in or around machine shops or machining.Qualifications and ExperiencePursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering preferred.Prior internship, co‐op, or hands‐on project experience (academic or extracurricular) is a plus.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or equivalent productivity tools.Primary Location:Lafayette, IndianaAdditional Locations:Allison Transmission is an equal opportunity employer.
