Recruiting and Retention Specialist
Purpose
The Recruiting and Retention Specialist exists to strengthen HC3’s ability to attract, engage, and retain the right people. The impact of this role is improved hiring speed and quality, a consistent and positive early employee experience, and stronger connection during the most critical stages of an employee’s tenure. Success in this role supports workforce stability, reduces disruption from vacancies and turnover, and helps HC3 sustain momentum as the business grows.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities for this position include the following:
Own the full recruitment lifecycle with hiring managers, from intake to offer acceptance, ensuring timely hires, qualified candidates, and clear communication.
Build and maintain strong hiring pipelines by developing partnerships with schools, training programs, job fairs, and local organizations that support current and future hiring needs.
Coordinate and own the onboarding experience for new hires (offer letters, pre hire requirements, and onboarding activities) to ensure a smooth, organized transition into HC3.
Serve as a consistent, trusted point of contact for candidates and employees, providing timely updates, answering questions, and resolving issues to support a positive experience.
Own employee engagement and retention initiatives, including recognition, events, and early tenure touchpoints that help employees feel connected and supported.
Coordinate community outreach and employee involvement initiatives, creating opportunities for employees to serve in the community and reinforcing HC3’s employer brand.
Support the HR Generalist with employee facing HR needs during cyclical peaks (e.g., open enrollment logistics, 401(k) education sessions, internal communications).

Education, Experience, and Certifications
Required
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications, or related field
Experience in recruiting, campus/community outreach, or HR support with direct candidate interaction
Preferred
At least 1 to 3 years in internal recruiting/talent acquisition, including coordination of onboarding steps
Familiarity with ATS/HRIS and Microsoft 365; comfort with basic recruiting/engagement snapshots
Professional certification (e.g., SHRM/PHR) is a plus
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct reports.
Work Environment
This role is based in Irondale, AL and is expected to work regularly at the HC3 office. This position may be approved for some remote work at the discretion of management and in compliance with the Remote Work and Access Policy.
Travel
Occasional local travel for job fairs, school visits, and community partners and occasional travel to HC3’s additional facilities.
Physical Demand
This role requires prolonged computer use and the ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods while performing job duties. The position may also require occasional lifting, carrying, or moving of items weighing up to 15 pounds in support of event setup and material handling.
Position Type and Expected Hours
Full time, exempt. Standard business hours with flexibility for interviews, onboarding, and events.
