This is a fully remote position, offering a unique opportunity to work in a collaborative and dynamic environment with a focus on construction defect claims. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in claims handling, particularly in construction defect cases, and a passion for delivering exceptional service.Compensation PackageSalary Range: $120,000 - $145,000+ (depending on experience)Benefits: Competitive benefits package, 401(k), paid time off, professional development opportunities, etc.ResponsibilitiesManage a caseload of approximately 120 claims, primarily focused on construction defect and third-party property damage.Conduct liability investigations and evaluate claims for resolution.Analyze coverage and draft coverage position letters as needed.Collaborate with co-carriers to determine time on risk, case values, and resolution strategies.Assign and work closely with defense counsel to develop litigation plans and budgets.Retain and coordinate experts within agreed-upon budgets.Establish and maintain timely indemnity and expense reserves, revisiting adequacy as needed.Prepare and submit authority requests for cases exceeding personal authority limits, including comprehensive reports and verbal presentations.Attend mediations, settlement conferences, and trials as necessary.Stay informed on changes in case law and industry trends.Provide support to underwriting and other business partners.Qualifications/Requirements Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.Experience:Minimum of 10 years of overall claims handling experience.At least 5 years of experience specifically handling construction defect claims.Licensing:Must hold or be able to obtain required state licenses (home state license required; licenses in TX, FL, and CA preferred).Must obtain a California license within the first 90 days (company will provide support and cover costs).Skills:Strong written and verbal communication skills.Ability to analyze complex coverage issues and draft detailed reports.Collaborative mindset with the ability to work in a less structured, start-up-like environment.Professional designations such as CPCU, AIC, or SCLA are a plus.Must have prior experience working with an insurance carrier (TPA candidates will not be considered).
