VCF Network Engineer I

Overview As a VCF Platform Engineer I, you will provide day-to-day operations for the VCF private cloud and support SDDC Manager, vSphere clusters, and workload domains. You’ll perform routine tasks, manage lifecycle activities, and provision resources to enable VM hosting environments. You’ll monitor health and capacity, escalate issues, and participate in incident response to ensure production stability. You’ll maintain IaC templates, runbooks, and documentation while cross-training across compute, storage, and networking. This role supports a mission of reliable, scalable infrastructure in a collaborative, inclusive environment with on-site and on-call responsibilities. ResponsibilitiesProvide day-to-day operational support for the VCF private cloudSupport SDDC Manager, workload domains, and vSphere cluster operationsPerform routine platform tasks (host adds/removals, cluster maintenance, certificate updates, health checks)Assist with VCF lifecycle operations (patching, upgrades, remediation)Provision infrastructure resources and support deployment of workload domains and VMsMonitor platform health, utilization, capacity; escalate risksParticipate in incident response as a first responderMaintain infrastructure-as-code templates, standard builds, and golden VM imagesCross-train across compute, storage, and networking within VCFMaintain operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge articles Key requirements3+ years in infrastructure operations, virtualization, or systems administrationHands-on VMware vSphere administrationExperience managing ESXi hosts, clusters, and VMsFamiliarity with infrastructure-as-code concepts and repeatable deployment methodsWorking knowledge of Linux and Windows Server administrationExperience with at least one scripting/automation tool (PowerCLI, Python, or Ansible)Understanding of core datacenter concepts (compute, storage, networking, patching, monitoring)Ability to support operational tasks in production with change control and service stabilityVMware vSphere administrationESXi host and cluster managementScripting/automation: PowerCLI, Python, AnsibleInfrastructure-as-code conceptsLinux and Windows Server administrationSDDC Manager familiarity
