Who We’re Looking For (Position Overview):Are you ready to play crucial role in supporting cutting-edge technology for federal law enforcement and scientific organizations with IT services and support for hardware, IT systems, applications, and operational technologies that support mission critical operations?Spry Methods is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Database Administrator to support a strategic laboratory program in support of our DOJ FBI Client. The scope of this program is to enhance enterprise services and solutions to this FBI component, as part of an integrated evaluation, integration, strategy, design, implementation, and operational maintenance program. This position is located in Quantico, VA.This position is responsible for administering, troubleshooting, and maintaining databases. The ideal candidate will have experience in various database technologies and have a strong understanding of on-premises solutions such as Microsoft SQL Server and cloud-based database solutions within AWS. Additionally, the successful candidate will be an active contributor to our database operations and use technology to continuously improve the team's performance.What Your Day-To-Day Looks Like (Position Responsibilities):Design, write, optimize, and maintain complex TSQL queries, stored procedures, views, and database scrips to support business applications and reporting needsManage and monitor the performance of TSQL databases, seeking improvements through performance and query tuningCreate, manage, and continually improve TSQL Server maintenance plans through monitoring of queries, indexes, and TSQL statisticsCreate, manage, maintain, and improve backup, restore, and replication schedules driven by end user events and processesManage and monitor Windows server failover clustersWhen required, manage and monitor the performance of cloud-based databases within AWSSupport the deployment of new databases and schema objects as needed in the on-premises and cloud environmentMonitor and maintain databases to ensure stability and optimal performanceEnsure that databases are secure and adhere to industry standardsAnalyze and troubleshoot database issues and take necessary actions to resolve themGenerate reports to measure database performance, utilization, and growthPlan and implement database activities including upgrades and patchingWhat You Need to Succeed (Minimum Requirements):US citizenship with active Top-Secret clearance Minimum of 6 years’ experience recommended. In absence of years of experience, certifications or past work may be used to show the level of experience needed to perform at this levelBachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or additional 3 years of experienceUnderstanding of PowerBI dashboards and how to configure those datasets to leverage SQL queries and viewsStrong proficiency in TSQL query writing, query tuning, and performance optimizationStrong understanding of database architecture and designKnowledge of database security and access controlsAdvanced knowledge of TSQL and database query languagesExpertise in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and query optimizationExcellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamExperience monitoring, performing updates, upgrades, testing, and other associated preventative maintenance and support functions related to Database PlatformsIdeally, You Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):Prior federal government experience supporting scientific organizations or law enforcement communities Experience in assessment, evaluation, and migration of on-premises databases to a cloud environmentExperience in assessment, evaluation, and documentation of client environment, infrastructure, process, operationsExperience with Data Warehousing and Analytic capabilities and solutions#CJWe may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses.
