Department Overview The Customer Programs Measurement and Evaluation (CP M&E) team sits within Clean Energy Programs, which is part of the Strategy & Innovation organization. As PG&E offers Load Management programs which aim at balancing load and energy supply, CP M&E conducts rigorous evaluations to estimate the impacts of the Load Management programs on the electric grid and customer experience. We analyze the programs\' operation efficiency and offer insights to improve program performance. Findings of our program evaluations also inform long-term resource planning, utility operations, and energy policies.
Position Summary The Expert Quantitative Analyst will manage evaluations of a range of load management programs, including demand response, time-varying rates, and clean energy transportation, to improve program performance and help shape California energy policies.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The preferred work location is Oakland, CA.
PG&E is providing the full salary/pay range for this position. The actual amount paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, and geographic location. The range to reasonably expect will be between the minimum to the midpoint of the range. The final decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to the factors above. This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E\'s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Bay Area Minimum: $129,000.00
Bay Area Midpoint: $168,000.00
Bay Area Maximum: $207,000.00
Job Responsibilities Lead studies to evaluate performance of PG&E\'s load management programs and dynamic rates to optimize program delivery; manage external consultants to execute the studies
Communicate evaluation findings to internal and external stakeholders provide recommendations to support energy policy
Sponsor testimonies for regulatory proceedings
Conduct statistical analyses of utility customer data to inform program design and/or operations, including supporting the development of PG&E energy programs\' enrollment forecast
Interface with internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs, define evaluation objectives and deliverables to meet these needs, and support the integration of research findings into program design and operations
Run cost effectiveness calculation for PG&E\'s demand response programs
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor\'s Degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Computer Science, Physics, Econometrics or Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Sciences, Statistics, Business or equivalent field.
Job-related experience 6 years OR Master\'s Degree and 5 years job-related(i.e., energy program evaluation, data analysis and interpretation, research methods, or applied statistics/econometrics)
Desired Qualifications Knowledge of utility operations, California load management programs and policies
Excellent communication skills: able to convey complex or technical information clearly and concisely to a wide range of audiences
Advanced degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or another relevant discipline
Ability to influence leadership through data analysis, insights and recommendations
Demonstrated ability to apply complex statistical methods, engineering or econometric modeling using large data sets
Ability to lead and manage projects and project teams; ability to scope and manage third-party consultant contracts
Familiarity with Demand Response Impact Evaluation Protocols
Experience in running CPUC-approved Demand Response Avoided Cost Calculator
Experience reviewing and commenting on technical reports and regulatory documents
Excellent problem-solving skills
