Building Automation Field Technologist (BAS)

Since 1986, Building Systems & Services, LLC (BSS) has integrated leading manufacturer equipment, responsive service, and robust building automation from Wilmington, DE to the broader Tri-State area.Is this you?You thrive in the field—coordinating with superintendents, foremen, and startup teams to get systems running right the first time.You’re fluent with vendor-specific tools, networks, and controller configurations.You’re organized—documenting, redlining, testing, and turning over complete commissioning packages.You navigate service calls as confidently as you lead owner training.What you’ll tackleLead BAS startups and commissioning efforts in Delaware, Camden, NJ, and the Philadelphia area.Digest controls drawings, plans/specs, and project communications to build an execution plan.Confirm equipment readiness; complete permits and job safety task analyses; uphold OSHA, site, and company safety rules.Conduct pre-power inspections; power up controllers; load programs; commission networks; configure devices.Verify I/O and device operations; validate BAS commands and sensor readings; exercise sequences through all modes.Capture results on standard or custom commissioning forms; create and manage punch lists; execute items assigned by project engineering/management.Deliver complete turnover documentation: startup forms, marked-up as-builts, sequences, and closed punch lists.Provide warranty, maintenance, and service support with clear field reports submitted to the office.Train owners/operators and back up programming/graphics to the BSS server.Implement software updates and system upgrades; support the Service Department on controls projects.Stay current on new products via vendor announcements and technical discussions; contribute to applications development.Other duties may be assigned.What you’ll bring5 years of progressively responsible HVAC/controls startup and service experience.Proven ability to coordinate work across multiple sites and trades.Professional, ethical customer presence; strong verbal and written communication.Comfort explaining complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel); laptop required for paperwork and time entry.Deadline-driven, organized, and detail-oriented.Valid Driver’s License and clean DMV record qualifying under company auto insurance; able to operate company trucks.Forklift operation; ability to work at heights (ladders, scaffolds, lifts) and lift up to 50 lbs.On-call rotation participation as necessary.Knowledge of HMI and M2M interfaces.High school diploma or equivalent; HVAC Journeyman Certificate and EPA Refrigeration License are advantageous.Core proficienciesHVACHVAC Service & InstallationCompliance noticesBuilding Systems and Services provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local law.Criminal Background Check requiredPass a Company and customer jobsites require criminal background checks and Drug Testing
