About Embedded Design Engineering (EDE)
EDE is a Minnesota-based electronics design company founded in 2018. We partner with businesses to design and deliver reliable, manufacturable, and testable embedded products — bringing them from concept through production with technical excellence and engineering rigor.
We support the full product development lifecycle, including system architecture, hardware design, embedded software and firmware integration, PCB layout, Embedded Linux / Yocto workflows, functional testing, validation, and production support. Our projects span industries such as IoT, industrial automation, automotive, medical, and consumer electronics.
A core specialty is building practical test and verification systems that improve repeatability, reduce manual effort, and provide clear evidence of product performance. As we grow, we are investing in robust, traceable workflows for quality-sensitive and regulated environments — including requirements management, risk analysis, verification planning, and Jira/Confluence-based traceability.
At EDE, our team takes ownership. We value practical problem-solving, strong collaboration, and delivering high-quality work to our customers.
Position Overview
We are seeking a versatile Project & Operations Manager to serve as a key operational partner to our President. This is a broad, multi-faceted role for someone who thrives on variety, takes ownership, and is comfortable wearing several hats.
Our team is roughly ten people, and we work closely with a network of external manufacturing and engineering partners. A significant part of this role is keeping projects aligned and moving across these groups, so strong communication and the ability to lead through influence, rather than direct authority, are essential.
You will lead project delivery, coordinate across our internal team and external partners, help develop customer proposals and pricing, and step in to keep operations running smoothly when needed. This role requires regular onsite presence in Chaska, MN.
Project Management & Delivery
Plan, coordinate, and drive engineering projects from kickoff through delivery, keeping scope, schedule, and priorities on track
Facilitate Agile/Scrum events (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, reviews) and adapt process pragmatically to fit a small team
Manage projects, boards, sprints, and reporting in Jira, and help maintain documentation and traceability in Confluence
Identify and remove blockers, manage risks, and keep stakeholders informed with clear, proactive communication
Cross-Team Coordination
Coordinate work across our internal team and external manufacturing and engineering partners, keeping everyone aligned on priorities, timelines, and deliverables
Serve as a central point of contact to ensure smooth handoffs and consistent communication between internal and partner groups
Proposals & Pricing
Help develop customer-facing proposals, coordinating input from our engineers and leadership, and turning technical estimates into clear, professional, margin-aware quotes
Apply sound business judgment to pricing — accounting for overhead, risk, margin, and competitive positioning
Support the President on pricing strategy and approval, exercising increasing independence as trust and familiarity grow
Operational Support
Act as an operational right hand to the President, stepping in on bounded, well-defined tasks when they are pulled in other directions
Help keep day-to-day operations organized and running smoothly across the company
Help maintain the structured, traceable workflows our quality-sensitive work depends on
Required Qualifications
Proven experience in project management and/or operations, ideally in an engineering or technical services environment
Agile/Scrum experience (CSM, PSM, PMI-ACP, or equivalent practical experience); pragmatic rather than dogmatic in applying process
Hands-on experience with Jira for managing projects, boards, sprints, and reporting
Experience contributing to customer proposals and pricing, with genuine comfort around margin and business economics
A versatile, self-directed generalist who is comfortable with ambiguity and wearing many hats
Excellent communicator who can earn the trust of engineers and lead through influence rather than positional authority
Strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and a reliable, ownership-driven mindset
Must be located near Chaska, MN, and available for on-site work
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with hardware, embedded systems, or regulated/quality-sensitive development
Experience with Confluence or other documentation and traceability tools
PMP or other project management certification
Experience coordinating external partners, vendors, or contract manufacturers
Experience working in small, fast-moving engineering teams
Compensation
Salary Range: $85,000 – $115,000 annually
Compensation will be determined based on experience, demonstrated expertise, and the breadth of skills the candidate brings across project management, operations, and commercial proposal work.
