Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing team and help develop physical products that will be deployed at scale across real-world customer environments.We’re looking for a Senior Embedded Hardware Engineer to own the electrical design and embedded platform development of next-generation edge AI devices. You’ll take embedded SoCs from initial reference designs through production-ready hardware, owning everything from system architecture and PCB design to board bring-up, embedded Linux, validation, and manufacturing. You’ll work across hardware and software to build reliable, scalable products capable of running AI inference at the edge.This is a highly hands on role for someone who enjoys moving quickly, solving difficult technical problems, and taking products from early concepts through production and field deployment.This is a full time, permanent position onsite in Sunnyvale, CA.Responsibilities:Own board design from concept through production, including architecture, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, and design reviewsEvaluate embedded chipsets and adapt vendor reference designs and development kits into production-ready productsDesign hardware that meets performance, cost, power, thermal, reliability, and form-factor requirementsLead board bring-up and validation, including power sequencing, signal integrity, sensor integration, peripheral bring-up, and functional testingDevelop and maintain the embedded platform for your boards, including BSPs, bootloaders, device trees, drivers, and base system imagesDesign high-speed digital interfaces such as DDR/LPDDR, MIPI CSI-2, USB, and EthernetBuild products for demanding real-world environments, including PoE power constraints, surge protection, ESD protection, audio integration, and sealed-enclosure thermal considerationsSupport camera, intercom, credential reader, and access-control interfacesOwn the complete hardware development lifecycle through EVT, DVT, PVT, manufacturing handoff, and field deploymentPartner with suppliers and contract manufacturers to support NPI, quality, cost, and production schedulesTroubleshoot complex issues across the hardware and software boundaryDevelop rapid prototypes and turn early-stage ideas into functional hardwareMust-Have Skills:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related disciplineAt least 5 years of experience developing embedded hardware productsExperience taking at least one commercial hardware product from development through volume productionStrong schematic capture and PCB layout experience using Altium Designer or a comparable platformExperience with high-speed digital design, including DDR/LPDDR, MIPI CSI-2, USB, Ethernet, and PoEHands-on board bring-up and debugging experience using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other lab equipmentWorking knowledge of C and embedded Linux environments such as Yocto or BuildrootExperience working with U-Boot, device trees, BSPs, and hardware driversUnderstanding of DFM principles and experience working with contract manufacturers during NPIAbility to operate independently and take ownership in a fast-paced startup environmentStrong written and verbal communication skillsNice to Have Skills:Experience developing products using Ambarella CV-series or NXP i.MX processorsCamera or imaging experience, including image sensors, ISP tuning, IR illumination, lenses, or camera module integrationExperience with connected security, access-control, intercom, IoT, or edge-computing productsFamiliarity with NFC, BLE, secure elements, OSDP, Wiegand, or RS-485Experience designing microphone, speaker, or echo-cancellation systemsKnowledge of FCC, CE, UL, EMC, IP, or IK compliance requirementsExperience managing manufacturing or supplier relationships in Taiwan or ChinaMandarin Chinese language proficiencyBenefits:Competitive compensation package including equity.100% employer-paid medical, dental, vision and base life insurance.401k (traditional and roth options).Flexible paid time off.Daily team breakfasts, dinners, and regular team off-sites.Free onsite EV charging.
