Join us and make a meaningful impact on the future of energy and transportation.Job SummaryThe Quality Control Inspector – Level 2 performs intermediate inspection activities to ensure product quality within a high-volume lithium-ion battery manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Quality Supervisor, this role applies established inspection procedures while working with increased independence to evaluate product conformity, identify defects, and support resolution of quality issues. The inspector collaborates with cross-functional teams and contributes to data-driven decision-making, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement efforts. This role builds on foundational inspection skills and expands into deeper analysis, ownership, and team support.Essential DutiesFunctional Operations:Perform inspections following Control Plans and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Use precision measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify product conformityInspect products independently, analyze results, and take appropriate action within established guidelinesVerify calibration and proper functioning of inspection equipment prior to useDocument inspection results accurately and maintain records for traceabilityOperate and maintain tools and equipment within functional areaPerformance Optimization & Continuous ImprovementAnalyze inspection data to identify trends and support implementation of countermeasuresAssist in root cause analysis and support corrective and preventive actionsRecommend process improvements based on inspection findings and quality dataTraining & Team SupportTrain and mentor inspectors at the same or lower level within the functional areaSupport onboarding and hands-on training of new inspectorsProvide feedback to supervisors on training needs and process improvementsContinue to build technical skills and apply feedback for ongoing developmentCross-Functional Collaboration & CommunicationCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and maintenance, to identify and support the resolution of quality issues in a timely mannerCommunicate inspection findings, trends, and quality concerns clearly to relevant stakeholdersQuality, Safety, & ComplianceSupport proper implementation of processes and proceduresParticipate in internal and external quality audits as requiredMaintain adherence to all quality, general plant, and company policies and proceduresUphold 6S initiatives and ensure area cleanliness is maintained to safety and operational standardsFollow all safety protocols and PPE requirements during inspection activitiesAbility to work all scheduled shift hoursSupervisory ResponsibilitiesNoneTravel RequirementNoneEducation, Certifications, and LicensesHigh school diploma, GED, or 2 years of prior experience in functional areaPreferredAssociate's degree or technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or a related fieldSix Sigma Yellow Belt (or equivalent)OSHA 10-Hour or 30-Hour General Industry CertificationEssential Qualifications1.5+ years of experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, or a related roleWorking knowledge of quality control and inspection proceduresProficiency with measurement tools and inspection equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges)Ability to read and interpret technical documents, drawings, and specificationsStrong attention to detail with the ability to identify and document nonconformitiesAbility to work independently within defined guidelines and escalate issues as neededEffective communication skills and ability to collaborate across teamsBasic data analysis skills and familiarity with quality concepts such as root cause analysisBasic computer skills, including data entry and use of standard software (e.g., MS Office)Safety-conscious mindset with the ability to follow safety and PPE requirementsAbility to meet physical job requirementsMust have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking EnglishAlignment to Panasonic's seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude)Preferred Qualifications2+ years of experience in manufacturing or inspection roles, preferably in battery, automotive, or electronics industriesProgression from a PECNA Level 1 Quality Control Inspector role or equivalent experienceExposure to quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949)Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and basic root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone)Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) or ERP systemsExperience supporting quality audits or continuous improvement initiativesPersonal Protective Equipment (PPE) RequirementsTo ensure health and safety in the workplace and for employee protection, wearing PPE is required and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator.
