Technician - HVAC

Reports To: HVAC Supervisor Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: A06 - 8 HR Duty Days: 260 Day Date Revised: 04/2025 Qualifications High School diploma or GED Texas Driver's License Three years' experience Knowledge and skill required to operate and repair all equipment associated with HVAC and low temperature refrigeration maintenance (AHU, OAHU, Exhaust Fans, Supply Fans, Chillers, Cooling Towers and associated pumps and motors EPA I and II certification (required); Universal certification (preferred) Texas State Contractors License Type B or ability to obtain within six months of hire date Physically able to lift 50 pounds Ability to comprehend written and verbal English Primary Purpose Assist HVAC Senior Technician to maintain district wide HVAC and low temperature refrigeration equipment to provide a quality building environment for students, staff, and community. Major Duties and Responsibilities Assume responsibility for the safe and functional condition of HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Perform preventive maintenance for HVAC and refrigeration equipment. Perform repairs and/or new installation as requested on approved work order. Work under HVAC Senior Technician as part of training and mentoring. Accurately document work hours, parts, and action taken for each work order on the daily bases. Effectively communicate with school staff and inform customers when arriving at the job and when you plan to return. Clearly explain work performed both verbally and in writing on a work order. Professional, calm, organized, patient, diplomatic, and confident demeanor in working with other associates and contractors. Practice all safety regulations related to trade. Recommend supplies and equipment for purchase. Report any safety hazards in a building. Respond to emergency repairs immediately and report problems to HVAC Supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned. Equipment Used Computer, meters, gages, welding equipment, ladders, hoists, hand and power tools, pipe bender, propane torch light truck or van. Working Conditions Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, outside and inside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Frequent district wide travel. May be required to work night shift.
