Department: OperationsLocation: HQ - Northampton, MACompensation: $21.00 / hourDescriptionFernway is seeking a detail-oriented Production Technician II – Second Shift to support evening production operations at our facility. This role is responsible for executing production and packaging activities while maintaining strict quality and compliance standards.Second shift team members must demonstrate strong independence, self-direction, and accountability, as evening operations require individuals who can stay productive and focused with limited direct oversight.Production Technician II represents an experienced role within the production team, recognizing demonstrated proficiency and the ability to take on increased responsibility beyond the Production Technician I level.The second shift hours are M-F 2-10PM.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Packaging OperationsEfficiently package and label products for sale.Operate vape cartridge equipment with a high degree of accuracy and consistency.Formulate cannabis oil and terpenes according to Fernway specifications and record keeping procedures.Verify batch quantities and transfer products between the production room and vault.Assist with compliance label creation and printing.Support Leads and Production Managers with retrieving dry goods and preparing packaging materials.Support the completion and closeout of production runs while effectively utilizing all required internal systems.Quality Control & ComplianceMonitor quality assurance and quality control processes, escalating issues when necessary.Uphold strict sanitation standards throughout the production environment.Properly handle and dispose of cannabis waste according to state regulations.Equipment & Facility MaintenancePerform routine cleaning and maintenance of production equipment.Assist with identifying and reporting equipment issues.Maintain an organized, safe, and clean work environment.Training & Team SupportAssist in training team members on formulation, filling SOPs, and production equipment.Maintain a positive, collaborative team-first mindset.Support additional operational tasks such as warehouse coordination, cannabis deliveries, or pickups when necessary.Serve as a role model for Fernway’s culture, operational standards, and professionalism.Second Shift Ownership & AutonomyMaintain productivity and focus throughout evening production shifts.Demonstrate strong self-management and initiative during periods of limited supervision.Take ownership of assigned tasks and ensure production goals are met during second shift operations.Support the Production Lead in maintaining workflow efficiency and shift accountability.Requirements21+ years old1+ years cannabis experienceBasic understanding of Acumatica and MetrcExperience in a high-volume production or manufacturing environment preferredStrong fine motor skills and comfort working with hands for extended periodsEquipment maintenance or repair experience preferredState-issued Driver’s LicenseAbility to pass Cannabis regulatory background checkAbility to work evening shifts and occasional overtimeAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionHigh attention to detail and commitment to product qualityStrong self-starter mindset with the ability to work independentlyStrong communication skillsStrong problem-solving ability and initiativeAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Ability to climb laddersAbility to reliably commute to Northampton, Mass., and work on-siteRegular and punctual attendanceA high degree of integrity and ethical conduct, alwaysExperience the Fernway AdvantageGenerous annual leave: 13 paid holidays and up to 3 weeks PTO (hourly and salaried staff alike)Comprehensive health coverage: company-sponsored health, dental, and vision insuranceExtra benefits: PSL, FSA, life insurance, 401(k) with match, discounted pet insurance and gym membershipEnrollment in Fernway’s exclusive Secret Shopper Program
