Math Coordinator

Position Description: The Coordinator of Math for Instruction (K-12) is responsible for providing instructional support to school principals and teachers including but not limited to assisting teachers in their efforts to ensure student mastery of standards and attainment of Student Learning Targets (SLTs), designing and providing professional development opportunities for teachers and principals, developing standards-based assessments, and providing instructional resources. Scope of Responsibility:Assists in designing, writing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating curriculum and instructional practices in schoolsDevelops standards-based assessments to assist teachers in their goal of ensuring students' mastery of standardsProvides and develops materials of instruction for grades K-12Coordinates and facilitates the evaluation and selection of textbooks and instructional materialsAssures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations/policiesWrites or revises grants and projects as assignedProvides instructional assistance to local schoolsProvides professional development to staff and informs school principals of scheduled professional development sessions offered by the state and other entitiesCollaborates with building and district administrators to assess program effectiveness and develop appropriate improvement objectives for the capacity building of instructional leadersMaintains connections with schools via the Administrative Update, website, email, and scheduled visitsPrepares written reports and oral presentations relative to Curriculum, Instruction, and Accountability mattersPerform any duties that are within the scope of employment and certifications, as assigned by the Chief Academic Officer, Director of Elementary Instruction, or Director of Secondary InstructionSkills and Qualifications:We seek detail-orientated, independent self-starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful candidates will demonstrate: An earned Master's Degree in education from an accredited college or universityMinimum of five (5) years Science teaching experienceCollaborative management style with a proven track record of working with diverse individuals to drive decisionmaking and resultsHigh degree of professionalism with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinkingAbility to organize and motivate peopleAbility to conduct effective meetings and staff development activitiesEstablish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with othersMaintain knowledge of technological advances in the fieldIntegrity, initiative, and good moral characterUnderstanding of regulations regarding the operation of Louisiana schools including, but not limited to Bulletins 741, 1530, 1706, 130, and 1508Ability to relate to students, staff, administration, parents, and communityPossess desirable attributes of personality, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills. Desirable Qualifications: Experience with curriculum, instruction and assessment development on the district, state or national levelActive affiliations with professional organizations related to scope of job responsibilitiesNational Board certificationDegree in subject area Physical Involvement: Sitting is required most of each work day.Must be able to operate office equipment.Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required.Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations, and meeting sites.Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations, including locations not on the ground floor.
