The 15,000+ seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh-time National Champion UConn Women's Basketball team and the six-time National Champion UConn Men's Basketball team. Led by Hall of Fame basketball Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley, the Men's & Women's basketball programs have established themselves as national powerhouses.The XL Center is also home to the AHL's Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers.The XL Center entertains millions of visitors annually with a variety of concerts, family shows, ice-skating spectaculars, consumer events, and trade shows throughout the season. The venue has played host to an extraordinary roster of world-renowned artists, including Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Drake, and many others.The XL Center will continue to be the center of sports and entertainment for Hartford and the State of Connecticut for years to come.ResponsibilitiesArrives for scheduled shift on-time, tucked shirt, neatly groomed, in a clean, pressed, well-maintained complete uniformVerifies credentials to ensure control of access into restricted areasAnswers guest questions in a knowledgeable and helpful mannerResponds immediately and professionally to guest disturbances/incidentsSecures both ticketed areas and non-ticketed areas of the facilityScreens guests as they enter the facility in accordance with the established standardsAccurately and thoroughly completes all pertinent reports and documentationEffectively diffuse potentially volatile situationsWorks cooperatively with all staff and emergency professionalsInteracts in a polite and professional manner, and maintains a positive and helpful demeanor with everyoneConsistently and continually enforces facility policies & procedures related to prohibited items, disruptive behavior, etc.Performs other duties as required to the satisfaction of Supervisors and ManagementQualificationsValid CT Guard Card, requiredPrior Customer Service Experience, preferredExcellent communication skills required with thorough understanding of written and spoken English, requiredKnowledge and skill in radio communication, preferredAbility to stay focused and maintain a high level of awareness of all happenings in/around the assigned locationAbility to listen effectively, take and execute directions, as givenAbility to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidaysPossession of, or ability to obtain, a current CPR and Crowd Management certificate, preferredAbility to work at the arena in Hartford, CT and the stadium in East Hartford, CTAbility to stand for at least 4-8 hours per shiftAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to traverse a variety of terrain and floor surfaces including stairs, escalators, carpet, concreteAbility to work in heights, in darkened area, around crowds, loud noises and flashing lightsAbility to remain calm and focused in fast-paced environment and stressful situationsAbility to work in adverse weather conditions, as neededStrengthened by Our Differences.
