Horizontal Setup Machinist
Job DescriptionJob Summary\nThe CNC Machinist II sets up and operates CNC equipment to produce precision parts according to specifications. This role is expected to independently perform moderately complex setups and machining operations, troubleshoot issues, and maintain high-quality standards. The ideal candidate is hands-on, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment. CNC Machinist IIs are often expected to operate multiple machines concurrently to meet production demands.\nEssential Responsibilities\n\nSet up and operate CNC machines, including mills and lathes, to produce parts that meet specifications.\nOperate multiple CNC machines simultaneously, as production requirements allow.\nRead and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders.\nSelect tools and fixtures, install workpieces, and adjust machine settings as needed.\nPerform quality checks using measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.\nMake offset and tooling adjustments to maintain tolerances.\nMonitor equipment for proper operation and escalate mechanical issues as needed.\nAccurately document production data, job transactions, and maintenance activity in all required documentation logs and various systems.\nAdhere to all company, safety, quality, and production standards.\nTrain and mentor less experienced machinists or team members as directed.\nSupport team-based improvement efforts and problem-solving.\nPerform other duties as assigned.\n\nCore Competencies\n\nTechnical Expertise: Demonstrates strong knowledge of machining practices, tool selection, and measurement techniques.\nAttention to Detail: Ensures precision in setup, machining, and final inspection of parts.\nTroubleshooting Ability: Quickly identifies and corrects machine or process issues.\nCollaboration: Works effectively with cross-functional teams to meet production goals.\nAdaptability: Adjusts quickly to shifting priorities and production demands.\nSense of Urgency: Maintains a productive pace while meeting quality standards.\nCommitment to Safety: Consistently follows safety protocols and promotes safe practices.\n\nQualifications\n\nHigh school diploma or GED required.\n3–5 years of CNC machining experience.\nProficient in reading blueprints and using precision measurement tools.\nFamiliarity with multiple machine controls (e.g., Haas, Fanuc) preferred.\nWorking knowledge of G&M code and basic machine programming adjustments.\nBasic math, computer, and documentation skills.\n\nWork Environment\n\nThe role is performed in a manufacturing shop environment.\nExposure to moving mechanical parts, sharp tools, noise, vibration, and occasional fumes or airborne particles.\nThe facility is climate-controlled in some areas, but temperature fluctuations may occur depending on the season and location.\nThe role requires consistent use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and steel-toed footwear.\nWork is performed near others in a team-based setting.\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nMust be able to stand for extended periods (up to 10 hours per shift).\nRegularly required to walk, reach, bend, crouch, twist, and use hands to operate machinery.\nAbility to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 25 pounds independently.\nOccasional lifting of heavier items with team assistance or lifting devices.\nVisual acuity required for reading blueprints and performing detailed inspections.\nManual dexterity needed for handling small parts, tools, and machine controls.\n\nReasonable Accommodation\nEvantic is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to qualified individuals with disabilities.
