Role: Founding Platform Engineer - AI Ad Infrastructure (Backend)Location: San Francisco (On-site) Salary: $170K–$210K + 1–2.5% EquityWe’re hiring a Founding Engineer to help build the infrastructure powering a new generation of AI-native advertising systems where ads, products, and businesses are dynamically surfaced inside conversational AI experiences.This is a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor and shape a category-defining ad platform from scratch. You’ll be working directly with the founding team to design and build the core backend systems that determine how monetisation works inside AI applications.Tech Stack:Python, Node.js, TypeScript, React, AWS, Terraform, Supabase, ClickHouse, MongoDBWhat you’ll be doingYou’ll take ownership of the core infrastructure that powers real-time ad decisioning at scale, including:Designing and building the ad decisioning pipeline (retrieval, scoring, ranking, filtering) with strict low-latency requirementsDeveloping backend systems for ad delivery, pacing, frequency capping, and budget controlBuilding a lightweight publisher integration layer / SDK for AI apps and platformsArchitecting systems capable of handling high-volume, real-time request traffic from day oneCreating observability and analytics infrastructure, including dashboards for performance, fill rates, revenue, and auction metricsWorking across backend, infrastructure, and product to rapidly ship and iterate in a high-ownership environment What we’re looking for2–8 years of backend or infrastructure engineering experienceProven experience building high-scale, consumer-facing tech products (this is essential)Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and real-time data processingComfortable working in fast-moving early-stage environments with high autonomyAbility to take ownership of complex systems end-to-end Nice to haveExperience with ad tech, marketplaces, or ranking/recommendation systemsExposure to AI/ML-driven products or consumer AI applicationsExperience working in seed or Series A stage companiesStrong product intuition alongside technical depthThe opportunityThis is a founding-level role in a company building at the intersection of AI, consumer attention, and monetisation infrastructure.
