Field Engineer
Description of the job:
The Field Engineer supports all aspects of the large infrastructure project(s) to which
they are assigned, including planning, scheduling, costs, and logistics. They work at the
direction of the Project Manager and perform both field and office tasks in support of the
project and project team. Their goal is to maximize project safety, efficiency and
profitability.
Job Duties:
Safety – participate in daily safety tours and toolbox meetings
Personnel – work closely with field crews, field supervision, surveyors, QC staff,
safety staff, and other project engineers to support and execute the construction
work
Estimating – assist in the development of cost estimates and pricing change order
work
Contract administration – subcontract and material management
Document control – maintain control of all project documentation
Trend tracking – tracking of quantities, costs, and progress
Equipment and material management
Scheduling – scheduling and work plan development
Document review – review plans and other technical documents
Closeout – assist the project team with closeout of the project
Other duties as assigned
Technical/Professional Knowledge (Knowledge/Skills, Education and Experience)
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering or related field
3-10 years’ experience in construction (underground preferable)
Strong communication skills
Strong understanding of plans and specifications
Working knowledge of cost versus budget.
Computer proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office Suite software (Word, Excel,
Outlook, PowerPoint) and other construction-specific software programs
Working knowledge on computer estimating systems (i.e Heavy Bid, Hardollar, etc.)
Familiarity with Bluebeam, Autocad, P6 or any scheduling program
Demonstrates flexibility and is adaptable to change
General knowledge of office protocol, routines and procedures.

Ability to meet deadlines
Self-motivated and proactive. Can accomplish tasks without direct oversight
Physical Requirements
Ability to navigate jobsite conditions safely – stand/walk on uneven terrain, obey
audible/visual safety cues, climb a ladder, and work at heights wearing personal fall
protection
Willingness to work above or below ground
Available to work a variable schedule as required by project schedule and work
demands, including night shifts, occasional weekends and overtime
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Ability to work in a group office setting
Must be able to lift to 25 pounds
Must be willing to relocate as needed(compensatory)
