Sound Engineer
Job Description
New Village Arts is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and collaborative Sound Engineer to support the audio needs of our productions, events, and rentals.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys live performance, understands the importance of clean and consistent audio, and can work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced production environment. In live theatre and event settings, sound engineers typically set up and operate microphones, speakers, consoles, playback systems, and related equipment, while monitoring audio quality and troubleshooting issues in real time.What you'll do:Set up, test, operate, and strike sound equipment for rehearsals, performances, events, and rentalsPrepare and maintain microphones, speakers, monitors, consoles, playback systems, and audio cablingRun sound checks and make audio adjustments as neededOperate sound systems during live performances and eventsMonitor audio quality and troubleshoot issues quickly and professionallyHelp maintain organized, safe, and functional sound workspaces and equipment storageWork closely with the Technical Manager, sound designers, stage management, and other production staffWe're looking for someone who:Has experience with live sound, theatre sound, event audio, or similar technical workUnderstands basic audio equipment, signal flow, and sound system operationCan stay focused and responsive in a live performance environmentIs reliable, punctual, and collaborativeIs available to work evenings, weekends, and other hours based on production schedulesBrings strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety and professionalismAt New Village Arts, the work behind the scenes is essential to the work onstage.
