POSITION DETAILSPosition Title: Drop-In Center Case Manager SPA 8Program Type: Mental Health — Drop-In Center (DIC)Schedule: Saturday – Sunday | 9:00 AM – 3:00 PMEmployment Type: Part-Time (12 hours/week)POSITION OVERVIEWWe are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Drop-In Center Case Manager to join our mental health services team serving Los Angeles County Service Planning Area (SPA) 8. This part-time weekend position is designed to provide consistent case management coverage at our Drop-In Center on Saturdays and Sundays, ensuring clients have access to critical support services throughout the week.In this role, you will provide direct support and case management services to individuals experiencing mental health challenges, homelessness, and/or co-occurring disorders in a low-barrier, trauma-informed environment. The weekend Case Manager plays a vital role in bridging care across the week, maintaining continuity of services and client stability during days when staffing is limited.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProvide on-site case management services to walk-in clients at the Drop-In Center during weekend hoursConduct intake assessments and develop individualized service plans for clients with mental health and/or co-occurring needsConnect clients to community resources including mental health treatment, substance use services, housing, benefits enrollment, and primary careMaintain accurate and timely case notes, documentation, and client records in compliance with agency and LA County standardsCollaborate with weekday multidisciplinary team members including mental health clinicians, outreach workers, and peer support specialistsAssist clients in navigating the LA County mental health system and other social service programsMonitor client progress and communicate updates and concerns to the weekday care teamRespond to crisis situations and coordinate appropriate interventionsEnsure smooth handoff of client information and urgent matters between weekend and weekday staffParticipate in team meetings, trainings, and supervision as requiredMaintain professional boundaries while building trusting relationships with a diverse client populationQUALIFICATIONSRequired:Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related fieldMinimum 1–2 years of experience in case management, mental health services, or social servicesKnowledge of LA County SPA 8 resources and social service systemsAvailability to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM) consistentlyStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work effectively with individuals experiencing mental illness, homelessness, and/or substance use disordersProficiency in documentation and case management softwarePreferred:Experience working in a Drop-In Center or low-barrier service environmentAbility to work independently with minimal supervision during weekend hoursFamiliarity with LA County Department of Mental Health (DMH) programs and protocolsCPR/First Aid certificationWORK ENVIRONMENTThis position operates in a Drop-In Center setting serving a high-need population in Long Beach, CA on weekends. Candidates must be comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be committed to a trauma-informed, client-centered approach to care. The role requires strong self-direction and the ability to manage the Drop-In Center during weekend hours while maintaining clear communication with the full weekday team.
