This is a hands-on, field-focused role requiring leadership within the exploration team. The position is responsible for coordinating logistics and supporting day-to-day operations for drilling and exploration programs. Talon currently operates exploration programs in both Minnesota and Michigan. This role supports both locations and will require significant time in the field.The Senior Project Coordinator - Exploration plays a critical role in ensuring exploration projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with Company and regulatory standards. The role encompasses a broad range of responsibilities, including drilling support, site preparation, access development, equipment operation, core handling, and general field logistics. This position requires a self-motivated individual capable of working with minimal supervision, identifying problems in the field, and implementing practical solutions to keep operations running safely and efficiently.Key ResponsibilitiesLogistics, Planning, Execution Provide leadership within the exploration team by contributing to a culture of working safely, efficiently, and with mutual respect for all team members.Contribute to project planning within the exploration team to ensure field operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and on schedule.Execute field activities within assigned areas of responsibility to meet schedule requirements on time and on budget.Communicate regularly with the Project Manager and project team to ensure alignment on daily task priorities.Work independently to identify operational problems and implement practical, field-based solutions. Contribute to resolving complex operational challenges.Logistics, Coordination & Contractor SupervisionCoordinate contractors, equipment movement, and field schedules to support exploration activities.Supervise contractors performing field work such as trail construction, pad building, and site preparation to ensure work is completed safely and to Company standards.Drilling SupportCoordinate and support daily drilling activities, including materials handling, fuel management, and site logistics.Ensure drill sites are maintained in a safe, organized, and environmentally compliant condition.Provide practical expertise to resolve issues related to drilling conditions or equipment.Site Preparation & Access DevelopmentAssist with trail building, access improvements, and site clearing for drilling activities.Support construction and maintenance of drill pads and staging areas.Install and manage swamp mats and other ground protection measures in sensitive terrain.Core Handling & Data Collection SupportMaintain a clean and organized core storage warehouse and assist with core handling for logging and sampling activities. Equipment Operation & Maintenance Operate light and heavy equipment such as skid steers, front-end loaders, ATVs/UTVs, and light trucks (as qualified).Ensure routine maintenance on equipment, vehicles, and tools is completed.Maintain inventory of supplies, fuel, and parts required for field operations.Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance Follow all Company safety policies and procedures and lead contractors and staff to meet these requirements within their area of responsibility.Lead contractors and staff in day-to-day hazard identification and mitigation in the field environment.Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training is a plus.Minimum of 15 years of experience in a related field-based role (e.g., construction, forestry, mining, or mineral exploration).Valid driver’s license and ability to operate Company vehicles.Ability to lift 50lbs or more and hike through rough terrain Experience working in outdoor, field-based environments.Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate strong self-motivation.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing field conditions.Ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather and terrain conditions.Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work as part of a team.Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with tools and equipment.Key CompetenciesDemonstrated leadership for safe working practicesSelf-motivation and ability to work independentlyStrong problem-solving skills and willingness to adapt quickly to changing project requirements.Mechanical aptitudeStrong desire to work within a larger team to accomplish project objectives.
