This position supports our West Coast and Midwest markets and can be based in any state where Wilson Elser has an office, but must be willing to work the hours specified here. The candidate for the West Coast market will work from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM PT, while the candidate for the Midwest market will work from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM CT. We offer flexible working arrangements, including remote and hybrid options.
The Position
Conflicts Analysts play an integral role in a law firm's Conflicts Department. The Conflicts Department is the central hub through which conflicts of interest checks are processed for new clients, new matters, and new hires. The Conflicts Analyst is responsible for running data searches and identifying potential conflicts for attorneys to review further. The ideal candidate is someone who is extremely detail-oriented and will thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Initial review and intake of new matter forms and new client forms
Complete searches and initial review of all entities or individuals involved in a potential new client and/or new matter to identify potential legal conflicts of interest
Assist the firm's Conflicts of Interest Counsel with specific projects relating to conflicts of interest issues
Monitor and process requests to the department mailbox as assigned and on an as needed basis
Execute various changes, corrections, and updates on existing client and matter information
Ensure all firm procedures are accurately followed before any new clients or matters are opened
Qualifications
Must have a bachelor's degree
Legal internship or research experience
1-3 years' experience working in a professional or legal office environment
Experience as a Conflicts Analyst in a law firm is a plus
Strong computer, research, analytical, and proofreading skills
Strong oral and written communication skills to solicit and communicate information effectively and professionally
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to interact with all levels of personnel in a professional manner
Ability to work in a team atmosphere
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
