Job description: An Lanterne Dx Pathologist provides professional oversight and direction of clinical pathology services including quality assurance functions, medical directorship where indicated (per CAP/CLIA), and technical direction as required. Duties and Responsibilities: Perform duties as Laboratory Director. Provide accurate and timely diagnosis of the presence and stage of disease from a tissue specimen, utilizing appropriate laboratory procedures. Be familiar with and able to recommend clinically appropriate testing, including immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization (ISH). Takes the initiative to improve quality in the workplace. Participates in and coordinates QA activities to ensure quality care and evaluates the effectiveness of quality assurance policies and procedures to enhance standards and excellence of service in the laboratory and Company. Provides others with the support necessary to successfully accomplish daily activities while monitoring and controlling costs. Provides consultation to clients regarding study design and clinical significance of laboratory results and data. Maintains confidentiality of sensitive information concerning patient samples, employees, clients, vendors, and the Company. Actively builds upon education and experience through Continuing Medical Education (CME) to maintain licensure/credentials. Provide educational services, conferences, and instruction where required. Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as Company rules, polices, and procedural manuals. Regulations and Documentation Operational support and coordination with QA (Quality Assurance), laboratory departments, and BD (Business Development). Documenting the review and reading of all Lanterne Dx Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Updating and maintaining SOPs as requested. Assisting in business audits Identify, develop, and execute short- and long-term strategic business opportunities to expand HTLC’s clientele and services. Actively network within the industry to establish and retain relationships as well as identify business opportunities. Qualifications: MD or DO degree plus accredited pathology residency. Must be board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology. 2-3 years post residency experience desired. Must hold valid unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state where practice is located or be eligible to obtain licensure. Finger dexterity required to manipulate the micro-thin tissue sections and to mount onto microscope slides Color discrimination required to verify diagnostic quality of staining processes in order that essential features of tissue sections can be properly defined. Willing to work in a biohazard environment and follow safety policies and standards outlined in the Safety Manual. Physical and Mental Requirements: Ability to spend consecutive hours with continued focus, interpreting tissues and cellular preparations through a microscope. Ability to visually, audibly, and physically perform all job functions. Lifting Requirements: Medium – generally not lifting more than 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
