Details Work in a PCU specializing in acute leukemia and hematology at an academic cancer hospital Patient population includes adults and geriatrics, primarily newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients Goal staffing ratio is 1:4, but may be 1:5 based on unit needs 12-hour day/night rotating shifts or straight nights (3x12), with shifts running 19:00–07:30 Weekend scheduling is variable based on unit needs Self-scheduling requests are accepted and accommodated before the schedule is finalized, though no blocked scheduling is available If on a rotating day/night contract, shift assignments (days, nights, or a mix) are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing priorities Charting via Epic; experience preferred No chemo certification required Requirements Active RN license in Ohio (OH) or a compact state currently in hand Current certifications: BLS and ACLS required Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required Required skills: med-surg/telemetry (MS/Tele), telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, IV therapy and phlebotomy, blood product administration, central line blood draw, peripheral line care and management, PICC line management, starting IVs, and feeding tube care and management Experience with Rapid Response Teams required 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for consideration Additional Information Unit places a heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols and patient fall prevention ONS Chemo Certification and NIHSS are preferred certifications Orientation consists of Mon–Fri dayshift during the first week, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor in the second week No break between assignments is required when changing representation at this facility (except for Sterile Processing Techs, who require a 30-day break) All time-off and scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of initial consideration First-time travelers will be considered on a case-by-case basis (screened to client for review) American Traveler Job ID P-687622.
