Outdoor Activity Sport and Exercise Supervisor

Are you passionate about outdoor activities, developing others, and creating outstanding experiences for students, staff and community users?We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Outdoor Activity Supervisor to join our Lakeside Campus team on a three‑year fixed‑term contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic outdoor learning and adventure environment, supporting land‑, water‑ and aerial‑based activities while contributing to the continued growth of an inclusive and vibrant campus community.About The RoleAs an Outdoor Activity Supervisor, you will play a key role in the safe, effective and inspiring operation of our outdoor activity facilities, including the aerial tower, water bodies and extensive activity zones. You will:Supervise and support the delivery of our outdoor multi‑activity programmesLead on either staff training and deployment, equipment and maintenance or activity systems and risk managementPrepare and deliver the annual training plan for part‑time instructors and maintain up‑to‑date competence recordsCoordinate, record and undertake statutory inspections, equipment testing, risk assessments and safety documentationMentor students undertaking placements and support the development of their employability skillsSupport commercial bookings, events and community engagement initiativesContribute to a positive, collaborative working culture across Lakeside Campus and the wider UniversityThis role is ideal for someone who thrives in an outdoor environment, enjoys developing people, and can work calmly and confidently under pressure.What We’re Looking ForWe would welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate:A relevant outdoor activity qualification or degree, with at least three years’ comparable industry experienceStrong organisational skills and the ability to manage daily operations, events and staffing rotas effectivelyExperience supervising activity staff or facilitators in a safe, structured environmentApplied knowledge of Health & Safety, safeguarding, risk management and industry complianceExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsConfidence responding to incidents, emergencies and operational challengesStrong IT skills, particularly using Microsoft systems and digital booking or rota toolsDesirable criteria include higher‑level outdoor qualifications, a clean driving licence and/or additional Health & Safety certifications.Why Join Us?This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine impact on student development and community engagement within a supportive team that values professionalism, collaboration and high‑quality outdoor experiences.
