Services, Preventative Maintenance ManualAbility to assist in purchasing decisions for inventory needsAbility to understand and give supervisory oral and written instructionsAbility and skill to maintain effective working relationship with mechanics, bus drivers, school personnel and general public DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform MI's and PM's on a regular basis within required time frameMake emergency repairs on service calls, generally without assistanceMake and assist with cost effective repairsAssist team members in mechanical proceduresSchedules routine work in a timely mannerComplete work in compliance with safety and quality standardsAssist in maintaining an accurate inventory, when neededAssist in ordering of needed parts and supplies, when neededAssist in determining major equipment needs for the garageProvide proper care and use of SBG equipment and vehiclesAssist with neat and orderly organization of shop areaAssist and perform complete service maintenance procedures of a school busAssist with general shop duties as perceived or requestedAssist with the positive public relations of school system operationsPerform other duties as assigned or perceived QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:Maintain NC Driver's License with a CDL Class A with endorsements to operate a school bus, fuel truck, and wreckerSchool bus mechanic position is defined as a "safety sensitive" position; therefore, subject to pre-employment and random substance abuse screeningSubject to fingerprinting for a criminal background checkHealth physical is required for employmenthigh school graduate or equivalentECPPS is a Tobacco Free Environment, employees are not allowed to use tobacco products on or in school propertyMaintain personal set of tools (up to 1 1/4") necessary for job performanceClass B CDL with tanker, P and S endorsementMust be able to drive a bus when neededBackground and knowledge to repair and maintain vehicles in the school transportation department PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:physical ability to perform duties of a heavy duty truck mechanic on a daily basislift 50-70 lbs.close visual acuity to operate diagnostic and computer equipmentperform repetitive motions while carrying up to fifty poundsbe able to stoop, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stand, walk, climb, pull, lift, finger, grasp, talk, and hear WORKING ENVIRONMENT:bus garage area without air conditioning and outside locationsgarage work and road work (bus inspections) are subject to weather conditionsduties require handling bus/truck partsduties require changing large truck tiresmeeting room and parts storage area is located in a two level section of the bus garageminimum and occasional exposure to automotive/diesel fumes JOB BENEFITSuniforms are provided for each employee (work shoes are not provided)STATE RANGENon-certified Salary SchedulePay Grade 59$2705.84 - $4110.85 per month(Based on 0-30 years of experience in a related position within a public school system)Full-time, 12-Month positionAPPLICATION PROCESSPlease visit our website at www.ecpps.k12.nc.us to complete the on-line application and forms necessary to apply for employment with ECPPS.
