Autism Support Worker
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Autism Support Worker to provide assistance and support to individuals with autism in various settings, including home and community environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in caregiving and a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for those they support. This role requires patience, understanding, and the ability to work collaboratively with families and other professionals.
Responsibilities
Provide individualized support to clients with autism, focusing on their unique needs and preferences.
Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and medication management.
Promote independence by encouraging clients to engage in social and recreational activities.
Implement behavior management strategies as directed by supervisors or behavior analysts.
Maintain a safe environment by adhering to resident rights and safety protocols.
Document client progress and communicate effectively with families and team members regarding any changes in behavior or needs.
Participate in training sessions to enhance skills related to autism support, caregiving, and emergency response procedures such as CPR.
Skills
Strong caregiving skills with experience in home
Ability to lift clients safely when necessary and assist them with mobility challenges.
Knowledge of resident rights and the importance of maintaining dignity for individuals receiving care.
Experience in home health and working with Autism children
Familiarity with dementia care techniques is a plus, as many individuals may have co-occurring conditions.
Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and effective strategies for supporting individuals with diverse needs.
Certification in CPR is required.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 33 per week

Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification (NCI) (Preferred)
