Life Skills Coach

Job Description Position Summary: The Life Skills Coach is responsible for delivering life skills training, supervision, and support to young adults students with disabilities. The coach provides and/or facilitates appropriate on-the-job and in-site assistance to support individuals with disabilities in achieving their personal and professional goals. Responsibilities: * Supervise students to ensure the acquisition of daily living skills utilizing TEACCH methodology while ensuring work site policies and procedures are being met. * Analyze students' strengths and weaknesses to potentialize their strengths. * Help students identify and overcome obstacles, challenges, and limiting beliefs. * Teach students effective communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. * Support students in developing self-awareness, self-confidence, and self-esteem. * Guide students in setting and achieving goals and provide accountability and support. * Help students develop healthy habits, stress management techniques, and self-care practices. * Provide guidance on building positive relationships, networking, and conflict resolution. * Conduct in-person coaching sessions with students and personnel in the different agency departments. * Analyzing potential work settings; must be able to advocate or work with other departments to customize positions. * Assist with students' behavioral outbursts as needed. Duties: * Work collaboratively with the team to create and implement customized coaching plans tailored to each client's needs. * Maintain ongoing communication with Transition Services Team regarding client progress. * Maintain client records, notes, and progress tracking to share with Transition Services Team as needed. * Ensure participants are making progress towards goals and support the transition planning. * Actively participate in supported employment activities. Physical Demands: * Regular to frequent requirement, and as needed, to lift boxes (up to 50 lbs.), including bending, stooping, stretching, walking, squatting, pushing, pulling, kneeling or sitting on the floor. * Detecting unsafe situations by sight or sound. * Moving quickly to intervene in unsafe situations. Educational & Experiential Requirements: * · Minimum Bachelor's degree with and emphasis in Mental Health, Special Education, Psychology or Social Work. * · Behavior Analysis credentials or experience highly preferred. * · Minimum of one (1) year or experience working with vulnerable young adults. * · Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Canva required. Proactive in taking initiative to achieve objectives and contribute to organizational goals. * Committed to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information of participants and staff. Other: * Work a flexible schedule as required. * Other related duties as necessary to ensure the smooth running and efficiency of Easter Seals South Florida as a whole. * Successful completion of background process which includes: Local background check, Level 2 clearance (FBI, FDLE), clear TB test, medical clearance, drug test and reference checks. * Adhere to the use of Universal Health & Safety Precautions as applicable. * Stay up-to-date with industry developments, best practices, and continuing education.
