We offer patients convenient access to innovative treatments and advancements that improve the health and overall well-being of our community.ResponsibilitiesConsults and coordinates with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plansReviews charts for completeness, in accordance with documentation protocols prior to and after the surgical procedureEnsure that the Operating Room is prepared with all necessary supplies, implants. Instrumentation, and equipmentProvides for patient safety by actively participating In the Intraoperative "timeout*Participates in counting all sponges, instruments, etc., at appropriate times during the surgical procedurePosition the patient on the operating room table utilizing safety measures such as safety belts, positioning devices and alarmsAssures aseptic conditions are maintained by the scrubbed surgical team throughout the procedureTake care of specimens, prepare, check, and monitor medications, and assist with dressingsServes as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating teamResponds to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards and protocolRecords all care information concisely, accurately and completely, in a timely manner, in the appropriate format and on the appropriate formsObserves, checks and monitors all equipment used during surgery to ensure operational efficiencyFollow relevant safety and sanitation guidelinesParticipate in orientation and education of all operating room staff on an ongoing basisParticipate in stocking and restocking medical suppliesPerforms other position-related duties as assigned, depending on assignment settingManage direct patient care of assigned patients that are scheduled for surgery or transferred to the PACU department for observation.Perform all aspects of care within the nursing scope of practice per the Alabama board of nursingProficiently manages nursing assignments when assigned charge nurse and maintains PACU throughput Ensures all surgical patients are appropriately prepared and optimized for surgery in the preoperative holding areaAppropriately recover all postoperative patients at the bedside per ASPANs guidelines and actively assist patients in returning to their pre-anesthesia stateCollaborate with physicians, surgeons, anesthesiologists, technologist, and other hospital personnel as necessary to provide quality patient care appropriately with all other members of the health care teamSupport the daily operations of the OR and PACU schedules byPromote a positive work attitude and provide patient centered careActively develops a sense of team.
