Multimodal Transportation Engineer
Purpose & NeedPatel, Greene and Associates (PGA) is seeking a driven and detail-oriented Professional Engineer (PE) to support and grow the Design-Based Solutions team. This position is available in our Temple Terrace, Carrollwood, Orlando, Bartow, or Sarasota offices. This role involves managing planning projects, leading technical efforts on complex tasks, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to marketing and client presentations. You'll apply your expertise in multimodal planning, data analysis, and conceptual roadway design across a range of transportation projects that directly impact safety and mobility in our communities. You’ll take ownership of planning and conceptual design tasks, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, support business development, and serve as a technical resource with minimal supervision. This position offers opportunities for growth, continuous learning, and career advancement within a team-driven, mission-focused firm.What You’ll DoServe in the roles of Project Manager (PM), Lead Technical Professional (LTP), and sometimes Engineer of Record (EOR) on a variety of multimodal transportation planning and conceptual design projectsLead designers, planners, and technicians in completing tasks, providing frequent peer reviews on their workLead technical writing and development of reports and proposalsLead marketing efforts for less complex projects and assist with marketing efforts on larger, more complex projectsAssist Managers in a variety of project administrative dutiesComplete tasks and projects within established supervisor’s expectationsParticipate in relevant training sessions and conferences to stay current with industry developments What You’ll NeedRegistered Professional Engineer (PE)0-10 years of progressively more complex post registration conceptual design and planning experienceBachelor's Degree or equivalent from an ABET Accredited University, majoring in Civil or Environmental EngineeringWhat You’ll BringKnowledge of multimodal transportation planning, land use planning, and conceptual design for pedestrians, bicyclists, trail users and transit riders Knowledge of multimodal traffic data, safety, forecasting, and analysis principles Skills to lead teams, build relationships, serve clients, and pursue projects Skills to develop easily understandable and technically accurate conceptual design graphicsSkills to interpret and summarize design plans, planning recommendations, and official documents Skills to properly analyze data and make appropriate recommendations Ability to work across disciplines (planning, roadway, traffic, structures, drainage, landscape, etc.) to identify and develop implementable multimodal transportation plans and conceptual designsAbility to collaborate and communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing Ability to effectively prioritize, assign work, and meet deadlines with high quality deliverablesAbility to work independently and as part of a team on deadline-driven activities Ability to use Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and other Office ProductsWorking ConditionsThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this jobWhile performing the duties of this job including working on a computer, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods at a desk; use hands, handle, or feel, talk, and hearThe employee is frequently required to stand and walkThe employee must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilitiesWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsIf you meet some of the listed criteria but not all, we still encourage you to apply.
