HR Generalist (Temporary)
A client of Birdie is seeking an experienced HR Professional to join them in a three-to-six-month temporary assignment!THE OPPORTUNITYThis HR Generalist will support day-to-day HR operations for our California-based client across the employee lifecycle, with a focus on HR operations, compliance, employee relations, and HR systems administration. This role partners with HR leadership and business leaders to ensure compliant, consistent practices across a multi-site, regulated workforce, including special education and clinical environments. The position exercises independent judgment and supports investigations, audits, and complex employee matters while promoting a positive employee experience.What You Will Be DoingCoordinate and manage the Human Resources inbox, responding to employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner and escalating issues as appropriatePrepare and send templated letters to returning employees outlining pay rates, hours, and other employment detailsProcess verifications of employment in accordance with organizational policies and confidentiality standardsAssist with employee password resets and basic system access support following established proceduresUpdate and maintain accurate employee records, including name, address, and other demographic changesRespond to employee questions related to W‑2s, W‑4s, and bonus documentation, escalating payroll‑specific issues when neededPrepare and distribute termination packets, ensuring required documentation is complete and accurateProvide general administrative and operational support to the HR team, including data entry, document preparation, and tracking of requestsPerform other HR administrative duties and special projects as assigned to support departmental needsWhat You Will Bring3+ years of progressive HR experienceExperience supporting employee low complexity lifecycle transactions and HR processes Works under guidance on employee relations and compliance-related mattersExperience with California employment law requiredExperience with ADP and/or Workday strongly preferredWhat Our Organization Is ProvidingExpected hourly pay of $30 - $32/hr based on experience.Birdie provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, genetics, Veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics.
