We are seeking a highly skilled Senior SQL Database Administrator (DBA) to join our team. This role is responsible for the performance, integrity, security, and availability of enterprise database systems across both on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SQL Server, strong experience in Azure and AWS, and a proven track record in database performance tuning and monitoring using Datadog.Senior SQL Database Administrator (SQL DBA)Key ResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain SQL Server databases in high-availability environmentsPerform advanced database performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategiesMonitor database performance and system health using Datadog and other toolsManage and support cloud-based database solutions in Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS)Configure and maintain backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutionsTroubleshoot database issues, including performance bottlenecks, deadlocks, and outagesImplement and maintain database security, access controls, and compliance standardsSupport database migrations, upgrades, and cloud transformationsCollaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to optimize application performanceAutomate routine DBA tasks using scripting (PowerShell, T-SQL, etc.)Provide on-call support as needed for production environmentsRequired Qualifications7+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA in enterprise environmentsStrong expertise in SQL Server performance tuning and optimizationHands‐on experience with Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instances, or AWS RDS/EC2Experience with monitoring tools, specifically DatadogDeep understanding of database architecture, indexing, execution plans, and query performanceExperience with High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR) solutions (Always On, clustering, replication)Proficiency in T‐SQL scripting and performance troubleshootingExperience managing large‐scale, mission‐critical databasesPreferred QualificationsExperience with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelinesKnowledge of other database platforms (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)Familiarity with infrastructure‐as‐code tools (Terraform, ARM templates, etc.)Certifications in Azure, AWS, or SQL ServerExperience in hybrid cloud environmentsSoft SkillsStrong analytical and problem‐solving abilitiesExcellent communication and collaboration skillsAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast‐paced environmentSelf‐driven with the ability to work independentlyNice to HaveExperience in highly regulated environments (finance, healthcare, government)Exposure to data warehousing or analytics platformsKavaliro provides Equal Employment Opportunities to all employees and applicants.
