Position Title: Controls / PLC EngineerOffice Location: Loganville, GAExemption Classification: Salary ExemptReports To: Engineering ManagerJOB SUMMARY:We are seeking a highly skilled Controls / PLC Engineer to support the development, design, programming, and deployment of industrial process control systems across multiple hardware and software platforms. This role involves full lifecycle ownership—from system architecture design to software commissioning—in applications that include CO₂ recovery/liquefaction, gas processing & conditioning systems, industrial gases, and oil & gas.The ideal candidate brings strong technical expertise in PLC programming (primarily Allen-Bradley), electrical schematic design, systems integration, and both remote and on-site troubleshooting. This position requires the ability to travel up to 50% for field commissioning, customer support, and equipment deployment.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:System Architecture & DesignDevelop complete control system architectures for platforms such as Allen-Bradley (Rockwell), Siemens, and other major PLC/automation systems.Define hardware, networking, and software specifications based on process requirements.As needed, design and develop detailed electrical control schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams.PLC & HMI ProgrammingProgram, configure, and integrate PLC systems with a primary focus on Allen-Bradley platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, MicroLogix, Studio 5000).Develop HMI/SCADA interfaces across various platforms (FactoryTalk View, WinCC, or equivalents).Create modular, well-structured, and maintainable control logic.System Commissioning & DeploymentPerform software testing, simulation, and validation activities.Lead FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) and SAT (Site Acceptance Testing).Manage software deployment, system bring-up, loop checks, and performance verification.Provide on-site and remote troubleshooting to resolve control system issues efficiently.Field Support & TravelTravel to customer sites (up to 50%) for commissioning, diagnostics, upgrades, and technical support.Provide responsive support during system start-ups and operational transitions.KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND/OR ABILITIES:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field (or equivalent experience).Demonstrated experience developing PLC-based control systems, including architecture design and programming.Strong programming proficiency in Allen-Bradley systems; experience with Siemens or other platforms is highly desirable.Experience with electrical schematic design using SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar.Hands-on commissioning experience with industrial process equipment or automated systems.Ability to interpret P&IDs, instrument datasheets, and system specifications.Strong troubleshooting skills, both remote and onsite.Industry Experience (Highly Desired)CO₂ recovery, liquefaction, purification, or related carbon capture technologies.Gas processing and conditioning systems (compression, dehydration, refrigeration, etc.).Industrial gas systems (cryogenic or non-cryogenic).Oil & gas processing equipment and facility automation.COMPETENCIES:Strong communicationCustomer service skills.Ability to work independentlymanage multiple concurrent projects.Solid documentationOrganizationaltime-management skills.Collaborative mindsetEnvironmental and Working Conditions:General Manufacturing environment, work can be inside or outside.Why Join Us?Instant access to earnings via ADPCareer growth & developmentDay-1 healthcare benefits to full-time employees, ensuring immediate access to health coverageRecognition & rewardsAnd more!Be part of a growing team making a real impact in our communities and apply today!AAP/EEO StatementTOMCO₂ Systems Company is an equal opportunity employer.
