Job Title: Sr. Construction InspectorWork Location: Atlanta, GASalary: Based on experience and will be discussed with manager in interviewDuties/Responsibilities:Proactively identify and document any deficiencies in roadway and bridge construction activities, while effectively communicating any necessary adjustments for compliance with contract specifications.Conduct daily site visits to monitor work-in-progress, ensuring materials and workmanship meet project specifications.Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members, reviewing their work to ensure quality assurance and best practices.Provide specialized inspections and written reports for bridge construction and OV activities.Supervise and mentor junior-level technicians performing OV audits and inspections.Function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on Developer activities, including remediation and repair reviews.Monitor the Developer's on-site construction activities and inspect materials entering into the work in accordance with the plans, specifications, and special provisions of the Developer's Contract.Perform oversight inspection, and verification of materials sampling and testing in accordance with the Project's Construction Quality Assurance Program (CQAP).Monitor the required sampling and testing of component materials and complete work in accordance with the Department's and Project Quick Guide Schedule and the CQAP.Attend pre-activity meetings with the Developer's Contractor and Independent Quality Assurance Firm (IQF).Monitor construction progress, quality, and discrepancies; coordinate with IQF to resolve issues.Monitor and verify that the Developer's IQF inputs all QA materials sampling and testing information into the Department's Materials database on time.Ensure material certification requirements are met for Final Acceptance.Perform contract administrative duties and maintain required documentationQualifications:Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, or Civil Engineering Technology, and three (3) years of progressive roadway and bridge construction inspection experience; orAssociate degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology, and eight (8) years of progressive roadway and bridge construction inspection experience; orHigh school diploma or equivalent, and fifteen (15) years of progressive roadway and bridge construction inspection experience as an employee or OV for a State Highway Agency; or an equivalent combination of training and related experience.Experience in transportation construction inspection, including heavy civil, bridge and roadway projects.Thorough knowledge of specifications and standards, acceptable construction practices, materials, methods, and equipment used in both general highway construction and bridge construction.Proficient and knowledge of mathematical functions, including algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.Experience in reading and interpreting complex construction plans and reports (BFI, pile driving, drilled shafts).Experience working independently and making informed decisions in the field.Demonstrated commitment to safety practices in construction environments.Valid US Driver's License is required to drive company vehicles to project sites. As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with alternative delivery methods and Public-Private Partnership (P3) projects.Supervisory experience in construction inspection roles.Obtain any required certifications and pass appropriate qualifications tests for the position in specified time frames as required:(Passing scores on GDOT's Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests - Group 1 (General Provisions, Auxiliary Items, Basic Highway Math, and Basic Highway Plan Reading).Passing scores on GDOT's Construction Engineering Inspection Training tests - Group 2 (Pavements, Bases and Subbases, Minor Drainage Structures, Construction Erosion Control).GDOT WECS.GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification.GSWCC Level 1a (Erosion Control)Certifications from other agencies or states may possibly be substituted.Familiarity with GDOT systems like Assure-It and e-Builder.Proficient communication skills - written and verbal.Advanced mathematical skills - algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.Additional Information:Position will include some night, holiday, and weekend work, and qualified candidates must be willing to work as needed on these occasions.Work in various field conditions including heights, live traffic, water proximity, and adverse weather.Benefits:Competitive salary based on experience.Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.Retirement savings plan with company match.Paid time off and holidays.Professional development and career advancement opportunities.A supportive and collaborative work environment.
