Assistant Controller / Controller
Currently working with a mid-size growing Hedge Fund that is looking for an Assistant Controller / Controller for the finance team to support the CFO and grow with the company moving forward. Position will manage the fund administrator and work closely with internal stakeholders and the auditors/tax providers. Will support the overall financial close process, financial reporting, NAV review and analytics as well as various other tasks and special projects. The ideal candidate will have 4-7 years of experience and will report directly to the CFO. In this role, the Assistant Controller / Controller will work closely with the operations team on daily reporting, will be responsible for daily and monthly performance calculations and reconciliations, NAV review and will work with Administrators, Audit and Tax firms.
Responsibilities:
Maintain internal accounting system, process GL entries and maintain accrual schedules
Perform daily cash/positions/trade reconciliations and review daily third-party administrator reports
Perform realized/unrealized P&L, dividend and other reconciliations
Review capital activity and supporting subscription documentation
Review income and expense accruals
Review management and incentive fee allocations
Assist in maintaining proper books and records support, which includes invoices, broker statements etc.
Check investor statements to accounting documents
Prepare performance estimates
Assist with preparing monthly marketing materials and run ad-hoc report for investor requests
Work with auditors and liaise with tax service providers
Gather info for audit requests/research questions from auditors
Review audit confirmations
Assist with due diligence requests
Keep track of funds’ performance such as Gross/Net returns
Maintain robust review procedures around deliverables
Assist CFO/CCO with compliance filings and requests, as needed
Qualifications:
Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
4-7 years of experience. Hedge Fund accounting experience at a Hedge Fund, audit firm or fund administrator is preferred
Strong accounting and math skills; professional certification (CPA, or equivalent is preferred)
Proficiency with computer platforms and applications
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $140,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
