Assistant F&B Manager

El Capitan Hotel is a choice location for off-the-beaten-path exploration. A luxurious translation of a road trip pit stop, the hotel features 114 guest rooms, a historic theater, and four distinct dining experiences, all reflective of California's Central Valley. What you'll do:Adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instructionAssist the F&B team in planning, organizing, and coordinating all food and beverage activities within the hotelAssist in the development of departmental objectives, policies, procedures, and strategiesAssist in training F&B staff on service standards, menu knowledge, upselling techniques, and other essential skillsHold staff accountable throughout their shifts for job performance through consistent oversight and follow-ups as neededSupport ongoing staff development to improve overall performance and foster a culture of continuous learningEnsure immediate response is given to guest comments and concerns and apply corrective measures when necessaryDemonstrate a working understanding of labor cost control through effective scheduling and proactive managementMonitor and maintain inventory levels for food, beverages, and other supplies, ensuring timely reordering to avoid shortagesEnsure compliance with health and safety regulations, as well as food handling and sanitation practicesSuggest and implement strategies to enhance service efficiency and guest experienceAssist in monitoring financial performance, including revenue generation, cost control, and budget adherenceAnalyze operational problems, such as theft and wastage, and assist the F&B Managers to establish procedures to alleviate these problemsEnsure staff has a complete understanding of their job requirements and sufficient training before holding them accountable for resultsSupport personnel actions such as hiring, performance discussions, and staff check-ins, consulting with HR and management as necessaryAssist in the development and implementation of special projects as assignedMaintain a high level of cleanliness and awareness of safety in the work areaEnsure that all equipment is maintained in good, safe working condition; arrange for equipment purchases and repairs as neededSupervise the outlet in the absence of outlet leadersEnsure open lines of communication with staff, all departments, and upper management at all times via email, online applications, meetings, etc., to ensure all needs of the restaurant are met QUALIFICATIONS2+ years of related experience in the hospitality industry preferredAbility to work flexible hours with a schedule that includes weekends COMPETENCIES • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to write routine reports and correspondence. • Ability to speak effectively before guests and groups of co-workers. • Ability to navigate and operate computer and Point of Sale (POS) systems. • Ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. • You are a leader.
